Taliesin?

What do you think of the name Taliesin? About to start ttc and me and my partner love it, just wanted to get some feedback!

I met one who is 3 months old in Surrey the other day. Being English I had no idea how to say it when I had to call him in!!! So to me it's an unusual name. In Wales it would be lovely. In London it would also be lovely fishfinger for the very unusual factor but you would spend your whole life (and so might he) trying to explain how to say and spell it to the majority of the locals!

It used to be the name of the 'canteen' in the Cardiff university union. I used to get jacket potatoes there.

I like it. I've only seen it spelled with double S before (probably in Tennyson) but I prefer it with one.

I love it, dh is Welsh and he really loves it and wants it on the list. We live in London between two posh areas and I'm worried about it sounding pretentious outside of Wales?
Will be watching this thread to see what people think.

Pronounced tally-ass-in? I like it, I know of a boy with that name - in Wales, so I always presumed it was Welsh.

It's pronounced tal-eeh-ess-in, it's an old welsh name meaning 'shining brow' (we are welsh!)

I've not heard of it before, but I read it as tail spin. How is it pronounced?
