Cordelia or Xanthe?

I really love both, and;

Albany
Jessica
Echo

DH likes Emily.

Any thoughts?

Cordelia is gorgeous! I also really like Emily. Echo is awful (sorry!).

Echo is without substance. A repeat. Its a bit like calling someone Shadow, Reflection.

cordelia or xanthe, or emily. the others are just tat. don't call a child 'echo'.

Cordelia can be shortened to Coco or Delie, if Cordy or Delia don't appeal.

I like Cordelia, but my mother said we shouldn't use it as she comes to a tragic end in King Lear. I live Xanthe too.

If you like Xanthe, what do you think of Chrysanthe? Then you could call her:

Annie
Chrysa
Chrysi
Santhe

I think if you are a bit of a non attention seeking soul, xanthe will be a burdensome name.

Emily and Jessica are ordinary non offensive MOR names.

Albany is a paint company. I had a dog called Echo.

Cordelia sounds like Cordial or Corduroy. Ok if you like that kind of thing.

I quite like Cordelia and Emily and think I love Echo and Alabany - really cool and quirky.

My name is the latter, so I may be slightly biased, but it's definitely a lot nicer than the rest on your list. I always get complimented on it, but it's a right pain in the arse to have to spell it out constantly!

Cordelia is tactless, but helpful in Buffy, not a villian, she actually becomes a celestial being in Angel. Her lack of tact I think is a nod to the Shakespearean Cordelia who doesn't lie to garner her fathers affections.

Echo wastes away because of her love of Narcissus, who doesn't drown but stares into a pool at his reflection until he becomes a flower.

I also like the name Juno.

Cordelia isn't a villain in Buffy. Anyway it's a great name. I like Cordelia Emily. I also like Emily as a first name. Xanthe is nice too but Emily is classic
