Cai or Finn?

Hi guys
My son's middle name will be Christian.
Which do you think sounds nicer/ which do you like best and why:
Cai Christian or Finn Christian? Which do you like best on it's own and which best with the name Christian?

Thanks everyone looks like it's slightly more Finns than Cais as preferred names- I think around 8 vs 5! Btw Happypogostick thanks for the suggestion but Fionn just reminds me of Fiona even though I know it's an authentic Irish name. It's weird just when I think I've made up my mind then I read another comment and change my mind! Really appreciate everyones comments though :) Do you think Cai and Kai as close relatives is a bit much?

I prefer Cai. Knew several when I lived in North West Wales, and know a couple here in NE Wales. Nice but not overly popular.

Cai and Luca sound like brothers. I'm not keen on Nia though, despite it being DD1's middle name.

I prefer Cai to Finn. To me, Finn looks a bit incomplete.

Elphaba - I lived in North West Wales for a lot of my life and I've heard Cai used a fair few times. Mind you, most of the baby boys are called Jack.

Thank you everyone and thank you TheHorse... what you said is perfect as that is exactly what I'm into! I do like Kai but there is someone very closely related with that name. Yes I think Finn Christian sounds poss better thank you! :)

I like both names about equally although I think I do prefer the spelling Kai. They both make me think of cool types who do a lot of surfing, snowboarding etc. I think maybe Finn goes slightly better with Christian (which I like a lot).

Also, I know I'm probably getting ahead of myself here...but if I ever had another child if it was a girl I would call her Nia and I like Luca for a boy. I know names arent supposed to 'go together' as such but do you think both of these go with the name Finn (or Cai?)ty

Finn is beautiful. So much nicer than Cai IMO. What about the alternative spelling Fionn?

Thanks everyone. I think I was looking at Cai because of his Welsh heritage but Finn is Irish and he ll have Irish heritage too

Maybe you feel like that about Finlay/ Finley because a lot of girls' names end in a 'lee' sound, whereas I can't say the same about boys' names... I can only think of Charlie and Marley... Watch somebody come along now and prove me wrong! Anyhow, Finn is great!

Thanks LeoandBoosmum- no offense to anyone else but personally I really don't like Finley spelt any way- wheras I agree Finn sounds strong I think Finley sounds the opposite. Christian as a middle name is a definite for personal reasons thanks again :)

I don't understand Kai or Cai as a name myself. It just doesn't really....say much. IMO. Finn is fine. Maybe you can make it Finlay Christian instead and shorten to Finn, as Finn Christian seems a bit abrubt when said together. Finlay Christian sounds quite good, fwiw.

I prefer Finn for pretty much the same reasons given by Leo above.

Personally I don't think it really matters whether the first a middle name "go together". No one except his parents will know what his middle name is anyway

I don't like Cai as a first name at all. I can't get the fact Coleen Rooney called her eldest Kai. I'm not sure the name would carry well into adulthood either.
Finn is nice, a strong masculine name... Who cares if a name is popular? It's usually because it's a great name! I would not follow Cai or Finn with Christian as it sounds awkward. I wouldn't mind Cai as a middle name but would precede it with Finlay for he reason I stated, even if you shorten it for daily use.

Finn. I know you don't want Finlay but Finlay Cai has a great ring to it and trips off the tongue nicely.

Ah thanks Elphaba. And to 'Thursday of Christmas' that's fine I think in Thai it means 'egg'! But it also has some nice meanings such as 'Ocean' (Hawaiian), Keeper of the Keys (Welsh), 'Pure' (swiss) and 'Fire' (Scottish). However, with the spelling Cai which is the one I'm interested in, it means 'happy' or 'rejoice'. Thanks again all so far.
