Sian or Macy

Hi,

Currently expecting a baby girl. Macy has been a favourite during this pregnancy but DH has just suggested Sian and we love both! I prefer Macy slightly more and DH prefers Sian. We have a DS called Lincoln btw. So it would either be:
Sian Abigail Louise
Macy Elle Louise

I like both names but prefer Sian. An alternative could also be Shana

Macy has the potential for people to mishear her name as the more common Maisy / Maisie, so that she'll be forever correcting it. So I'd go with Sian (although if you're outside of Wales she'll probably be correcting wrong pronunciation / having to spell that too).

Please don't call her Macy - it's awful!

I'm not mad keen on the name Sian, but it's a perfectly good name. Go for that one, but keep Abigail as the middle name.

I am a Sian and I can assure you in Wales it is definitely not dated!

When I was younger I absolutely despised it because no one could say it because as I was English it really wasn't that well known. I used to get really upset when people said it wrong then people - and I mean vile kids in my class - would laugh at me. gets the violins out

However now it's used more widely and no one has got it wrong for years!!!!! So now I quite like having a name that's a bit different

I wouldn't say Sian is 'dated' so much as classic.
'Macy' sounds like that awful MOR coffee table singer from the late 90s or a department store.

Sian doesn't match with Lincoln at all.

It is quite dated. I know three in their twenties.

I'm sure she is, imip. It's just an opinion. (My opinion of my own name is equally cutting.) I'm glad your little Macy is ok.

So now would probably not be the good time to say I have a Macy, but I do, and she is lovely! not the favourite of my dds names, but she was possibly not going to survive and we had already lost one child - she's very special, and as personalities go, she is pretty sweet also.

Honestly, Macy is like calling a child Debenhams. Sian is much nicer.

(Why on earth would you want to 'match' Lincoln, anyway, as a pp seemed to be suggesting? They're two different children, not a pair of candlesticks. Sian and Lincoln sound better, anyway, and less as if you'd only consulted a book of US baby names.)

Thank you for your opinions, and your right Macy and Lincoln they do sound very American (which we're not). Talked to DH and we're edging closer to naming her Sian as it is growing on me more and more but put Macy as the middle name and drop the Abigail.

I was wondering about adding the 'e' Iknow especially as the shop is spelt without the 'e'. Hmm..

Lincoln and Sian go nicely together.
Lincoln and Macy sound too much like you've been inspired by a trip to the US! Sorry!
