Names like Ada?

I have come to really like this but DH isn't so sure. Can you suggest other names of a similar 'style'?

Not too popular though, I have a popular name and 3 close friends have the same name, so I want to avoid that. For that reason Ava and Mia, which have been long time favourites, are out.

Thoughts?

Ada, Ava, Eva, Evie - all so similar, so popular right now, almost exactly the same sound... and I don't think they'll stand the test of time at all. There's so little to them - just a couple of vowel sounds. They're the current craze, once people see past them - they will be gone.

Short, snappy... and actually interesting:

I dislike Ada, Ivy, Edith Evelyn, so so much. They're ugly to me. So many prettier names for a girl.

It IS rather an old lady name though, and I say that as someone with a three year old Ada. The main feedback I get is from elderly people saying it was their mother's or aunt's name. "All these old names coming around again..." Grin

I desperately wanted to call my daughter Ada , it was always the name I had in my head for a daughter.
Unfortunately, my marriee surname did not go with Ada at all so it was not to be :(

Thanks all. I never really thought of Ada as Granny Chic, which is how lots of these sound to me.
I think it's the short snappy, 2 syllable name I like.

I LOVE the name Florence.. but with our surname.. it'd be very very cruel..
(Think lady of the lamp who was a nurse!) I am expecting and if enough people on MN think it's actually ok to call our daughter Florence Nightingale I may reconsider.. but for now she'll be Clara .. What say you?
