welsh baby girl name in England

My husband is Welsh but we currently live in England. We would, however, like to choose a Welsh name for our little girl that goes with our surname, Howells. We are looking for a name that is easy to recognise and pronounce outside of Wales. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you!

Oh someone suggested Manon....I love that name!

Seren? Eira / Aneira, Mari, Haf, Beti / Betsi / Betsan, Elin / Elena, Carys / Cerys, Nerys, Mali.

I've just gone for the shorter more easy to pronounce ones!

I've always loved the name Angharad, it's one of those names that grows with all ages.

NormanTheForeman · 25/11/2014 20:14

Nerys isn't unheard of in England either.

Elin Mabli, Seren are easy for non- welsh speakers. Also Megan, Bethan, Betsan. Or a Welsh spelling: Anni, Elsi. Ffion, Manon, Siân...

Seren, such a pretty name and lovely meaning too.

My DS has a welsh name and we live in England and it poses no problems.

Rhiannon? I have know three Rhiannons in England. I also know a Heulwen who was born and brought up in England, but that's another story, as she is always having to explain her name.
