welsh baby girl name in England

My husband is Welsh but we currently live in England. We would, however, like to choose a Welsh name for our little girl that goes with our surname, Howells. We are looking for a name that is easy to recognise and pronounce outside of Wales. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you!

DD2 is Carys Bethan but we do love the name Seren too. DH is Welsh, I'm English and we live in England. We get many compliments about Carys' name.

My favourite Welsh name is Seren - stands out as Welsh, isn't hard to pronounce or spell and has a lovely meaning.

You could try Alys (Alice). I also love Angharad.

My dad's aunt was Myfanwy, she was known as Mivvy.

don't call her anything beginning with Rh as if you're husband is a welsh speaker he will be forever annoyed with the Rh sound being changed to an R sound - Rhiannon is not pronounced Riannon!

I'm called Delyth and am forever having to explain it to English people, so steer clear of that!

Cerys seems to be quite easy - thanks to Cerys Matthews, and I have a niece called Elin who lives in the SE of England and doesn't have any problems.

Lots of lovey names here. I'd steer clear of names with any letters that are sounded differently in English vs Welsh (so Myfanwy, Eluned, Hedd). Poor thing will be constantly explaining herself and correcting people.

I'm English but live in Wales and my youngest is called Seren.
It's relatively unheard of in England and I always get compliments on her name when we are in England.

Norman, I know a Hedd that changed her name to Heather when she moved to London. I wanted Heulwen for DD but DH vetoed it, citing her to put me off Smile

Mali (pronounced Mally) is a cute one.
Rhian works in England, as do Anwyn, Carys and, of course, Manon, which is a gorgeous name.
