Should have said, I think Sienna is a pretty name, even if the meaning isn't the best.

I think popularity can vary a great deal depending on where you live with any name. So whilst I know of loads, it might not be the same elsewhere.

I like the name Sienna but I always associate it with the actress who I don't really like so it's ruined for me. If you like it OP (bear in mind the meaning of the name) then use if for your DC.

No, not at all.

It has an alternative medical meaning, as does Amelia. But whilst this would bother me in respect of both of the names, Amelia has long be highly popular so I may well be in a minority.

Ooh I like Alexia! Love Lexy too! I think it's certain names like Alexia, Jayden, Sienna etc just aren't popular on the baby name boards! Is interesting hearing everyone's opinions though! :)

Haha I recently heard someone with a child called Toby shouting 'Tobes!!' And that put me off that name ! It's funny how easily put off a name we are!
I think Sienna goes down like that other boys name I see on here before- Jayden. It's a nice name but nobody likes it for some reason!

Yea you are right, I don't think I will find a girls name I like as much as Sienna. And if I chose another name id probably always wish I'd chosen Sienna.

I've have one DC and one on the way any day now. But my name choices would out me!

We pick our names by thinking of names of characters in books/TV and reading the credits of films.

I think if you keep it quiet and tell people the name you've picked when it's too late to be changed, no-one would make any negative comments and that name would be associated with your DC so everyone involved would love it.

That's true. Just need to choose a name and not worry what people think and associate it with!

Sienna is a lovely name, and there's only 3 around here that I know of. Nothing 'chavvy' associated with it for me, but then again I'm not a frequenter of Waitrose so perhaps it would be different if I were. Grin

Matilda is a great name too. Probably less 'popular' than Sienna, and the film is great so who cares about the link!

Yes the meaning does let it down a bit. I can't think of any other names I like as much, I like Matilda. But would that have too much association with the movie?

It's very commonly used where I live at the moment. Know of 5 in the last year or so and a few around 5/6 years old too.

I don't like the meaning. Sienna is a colour, a shade of brown.

Well I like it, so IF I have a girl I will probably use it. Never heard of a Sienna round here. I live on the south coast

Gosh I hate the 'c' word, but at least 2 of the Sienna's I know are about as far away from it as you can get (if I force myself to think in those terms). One in particular is very prep school / pony club.

Why would anyone call their kid Vienna? Can you imagine how many times a week they'd get 'OOOOOOHHHHHH VIENNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAA'.

If I was a Vienna I'd be doing hard time for murder.
