DD2 due in a couple of weeks and we have a shortlist but nothing feels 'right' yet. Would really welcome your opinions on our list and also any suggestions for names along similar lines. DD1 is Phoebe.

Isabel (always liked but a friend has used recently).
Tabitha (love this but DH doesn't like NNs Tabs or Tabby)
Chloe (was popular a while back, dated now?)
Daphne (love this but a bit granny chic perhaps)
Sylvie (faddy?)
Alice (feels like a safe option)
Rose (ditto)

Other names I like but DH rejected are Jemima, Helena and Madeleine - keen to hear your thoughts on these too in case I can get them back on the list ;-)

Thank you for your help!!!

I like Isabel and Rose best. I prefer Sylivia to Sylvie but like both. Not keen on Chloe. It's a bit dated now. Daphne and Jemima I'm not keen on. Alice is nice but a bit so so.

BlueStarsAtNight · 18/11/2014 19:56

Isabel - I know it's popular but I love it
Tabitha - really don't like, just think cat
Chloe - dated, and a bit meek sounding
Daphne - really like
Sylvie - like, but prefer Sylvia
Alice - ok, but getting a bit 'done'
Rose - nice, but prefer longer options eg Rosanna
Jemima - not sure I can get past puddleduck
Helena - really like, as long as it's Hel-en-a not Hel-ay-na
Madeleine - really like

SanityClause · 18/11/2014 19:39

Daphne and Sylvia. Or better still, Sylvia.

Foggymist · 18/11/2014 19:36

I love Tabitha, Isabel is incredibly popular.

Cuppatea14 · 18/11/2014 19:30

Isabel necessary on a bike????

akorda · 18/11/2014 19:21

Love Rose(only know one!), Alice and Daphne (tho' possible problems with nickname: Daffy?)

Tabitha is too cat-like
Chloe I just don't like the sound of
Sylvie - fine if you have French connections
Isabel - lovely but def popular!

Love Helena - pronounced Heleena; dislike Madeleine as shortenings are awful (Maddy); not crazy re Jemima

Good Luck!

Alice, Rose and Madeleine are my favourites . I also love Sylvie but agree with pp that another ee ending might be a bit much with Sylvie.

I don't like them quite as much but I do think Jemima & Tabitha are both great fits with Phoebe.
I really don't like Daphne.

Fuzzyfelt123 · 18/11/2014 18:51

I agree Imogen goes really well with Phoebe. Sylvie is my fave from your list Smile

montyandmabel · 18/11/2014 18:47

Love love love Alice & Madeleine...& they both go really well with Phoebe.

I like Isabel/Isobel/Isabelle, but it is very popular these days, which would put me off a bit...

I think Martha, Imogen, Lydia or Annabelle go quite well too...

Good luck... Flowers

Sophronia · 18/11/2014 17:53

I like Tabitha with Phoebe. A lot of them sound maybe a bit too similar to Phoebe with the 'ee' sound at the end (Chloe, Daphne, Sylvie etc.) Rose, Alice and Isabel are nice too, although Isabel is very popular.

Jemima and Helena are both great, but I'm not keen on Madeleine.

WowserBowser · 18/11/2014 15:58

I like them.

How about Matilda or Audrey?

Helena is nice - How would you pronounce it? Helayna or Helen-a?

camembertlover · 18/11/2014 15:53

Helena is lovely as is Chloe
Instead of Jemima [makes me think of puddleduck] how about Jasmine
Don't like Rose - it's very plain

Havingabeer · 18/11/2014 15:49

Isabel is really common. I like Sylvie

SoonToBeSix · 18/11/2014 15:49

Love Isabel and Daphne , Tabitha sounds like a cat. The others are a bit boring.
