Sibling for Polly- comprehensive musical knowledge required!

Dd is Polly because we were listening to Nevermind and said 'that's her name!'

Now she will have a sibling. It's really important to us to have a name from music. Girl we are thinking Luna - last track on Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream. Possibly Chloe - Motherlovebone.

Our musical tastes are 90's grunge, alternative punky type stuff.

Are there any good names out there, especially for boys? Jeremy- pearl jam - isn't in the mix and is what most people suggest! Don't really want to use musicians names either, so no Kurt, Trent etc

Suggestions?!

Love Atticus too for the same reason. Luna is beautiful. Lucky baby is going to have a great name one way or another.

Ooh so many ideas. Love the Spencer idea, that does kind of fit! Sonographer was prepared to say maybe a boy but obviously we don't know for sure at 16 weeks. Is it wrong that I will be disappointed if it's a boy and I can't use Luna?!

Do like Spencer and Floyd a LOT.

Complete tangent but we also like atticus. I'm a lawyer and always think Atticus as in to kill a mockingbird. The vaguest connection to music is that Atticus Ross is Trent Reznors composing partner.

Eleanor - both Eleanor rigby and from folding stars by Biffy Clyro.

Great thread! We're struggling with names for second child and are big music fans so following with interest.

RainbowInACloud · 17/11/2014 00:51

Darley- super cool member of the pumpkins?

ZeroSomeGameThingy · 17/11/2014 00:40

Pascal (Scottish Enlightenment. Though not quite your era. )

For a girl you could bring back Heather. (Gorkys Z M)

Sophronia · 17/11/2014 00:33

Martha (For Martha - Smashing Pumpkins)
Jane / Janie (Janie Jones - The Clash)
Charlotte (Charlotte Sometimes - The Cure)
Judy (Judy is a Punk - The Ramones)
Ruby (Thru the eyes of Ruby - Smashing Pumpkins)

Sophronia · 17/11/2014 00:18

Sally from Sally Cinnamon (Stone Roses) and Don't Look Back in Anger (Oasis), or are Polly and Sally too similar?

EvenFlo · 17/11/2014 00:06

Following from last post - Xiola from James addiction's 3 days.
Not a brilliant story behind it but an unusual name.

Another vote for Elise... from PJ Harvey's Perfect Day Elise and also The Cure's Letter To Elise. Love that Cure song, not heard it in ages, sigh...

EachandEveryone · 16/11/2014 23:36

Martha by Tom Waits

WetAugust · 16/11/2014 23:28

Eloise. was it The Damned?

ReinholdMessner · 16/11/2014 22:51

Another Manics one, although considerably more political: Elián.

I have a Noah (no alarms and no surprises) rather than the whale

NoArmaniNoPunani · 16/11/2014 22:44

Zephyr or Johnny (RHCP)

Castlemilk · 16/11/2014 22:40

Ah I think you should go for Spencer then - as in the Nevermind baby - Polly and Spencer are ace together, and it's a good story.

isaacandelodiesmummy · 16/11/2014 22:40

I like Blake

divingoffthebalcony · 16/11/2014 22:37

*thinking Manics

Clearly I am too reliant on autocorrect - then it doesn't kick in!

divingoffthebalcony · 16/11/2014 22:36

Merrylegs · 16/11/2014 22:32
