Unusual as in they practically don't minded a surname.

Any inspiration?

i cant post the name i know as i highly doubt there is another one anywhere by the name but a young girl i know is named after a model of car...definitely not a usual name and i remember being horrified when they said they were naming her that.

she couldnt possibly be anything else. it fits her perfectly and is as special as she is. i've actually come to love it! not helpful i know but i think the chose it based on something they both loved and it worked out well.

Sorry, I don't necessarily mean no one else in the world literally :)

My name is very unusual - very. I am generally the only one known by people so when I say 'it's XXX' they know it's me!

But I know there's a scattering of us around the UK! Not many though!

Or turnip

Hmm if no one else in the world has used it, it's probably not going to be that great tbh as there will be a reason why. The only way is probably combining names: ie

Theaelenora

Henribella

Penelope-Ariana-Quinn

IAm - thanks :) I definitely need to avoid the top 100, though.

I don't want to make up a name - don't know where I'd start! Quite like Narushia; it has a nice sound to it.

Less user friendly but rather more official www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/vsob1/baby-names--england-and-wales/2013/stb-baby-names-2013.html

IAmAPaleontologist · 10/11/2014 18:09

Oh hang on, sorry, that isn't the official list that it people who registered with baby centre.

spamanderson · 10/11/2014 18:07

Ie a name that there won't be any others of in their classes? If you want something completely original or uncommon, why not make up a name?

IAmAPaleontologist · 10/11/2014 18:07

Much as I hate to link to it, Baby Centre does a useful list of the top 100 by year www.babycentre.co.uk/popular-baby-names

madsadbad · 10/11/2014 18:04

Narushia

Posingwithpenguins · 10/11/2014 18:02

How do I do that?

You mean so unusual they don't need a surname? As in they will be the only one anyone knows with that name?

You could access the names used in the UK the past couple of years and make a list of ones you like from the least used names?

Posingwithpenguins · 10/11/2014 18:00

?

Can you think of any really unusual girls names - so unusual they would likely be the only one with that name people would know and therefore wouldn't need a surname technically speaking.

I don't mean they literally wouldn't have a surname.
