Edward or Edmund

Which one?
Edward is more common, so less likely to provoke a strong reaction.
Edmund still gives us the same nickname options, but it's less popular. Would you snigger at it though?

Not Edmund.

Agree with the Mansfield Park sap - Edward just sounds so much nicer Smile

Edmund does make me think of Blackadder, and the pain in the butt from the Lion, Witch & Wardrobe...

I like Edward

Ah, I was coming to say Edgar too Takver!

Edmund is the name of the racing driver, Eddie Irvine. That's enough association to put me right off!!!

Edward is a great name.

Edmund is....um.....not.

squoosh · 04/11/2014 17:56

Edward is the superior name.

Edmund reminds me of that awful drip from Mansfield Park. Also I think the 'mund' part of Edmund feels and sounds terribly prim.

Edmund - Ned gets the thumbs up from me

Takver · 04/11/2014 17:43

I would think of Mansfield Park / Narnia, rather than Blackadder . . .

Takver · 04/11/2014 17:43

Of the two, I'd choose Edmund - but I like Edgar even more :)

lornemalvo · 04/11/2014 17:37

Makes me think of Mansfield Park. Every time I read it I think how much nicer Edward is.

scurryfunge · 04/11/2014 17:35

DS has the second one as a middle name. Born in BSE but we do get some Blackadder comments.
