"You cant use that its too chavvy" - Is it ?

Ok so I don't find out what I'm having until next fortnight & I have chosen both names yet I'm told that the girls name I have chose is too 'Chavvy' & I have to find something else by my 'D'M .

I'd like a none biased opinion so I have come to you lot for help & other name suggestions as I feel like I'm banging my head against a brick wall trying to find anything at all Smile

Sadie Liesel

Ruairi Atticus Norton

It's the girls name that I'm told is too chavvy/ common Confused & I still need a second middle name for girl as well .

Also if I like these what else would I like ?

Eternally grateful for any ideas/responses

Also I remembered what the 2nd name was I wanted to use for a girl it's Cheyenne which isn't something I would of chose myself but my Df chose it many moons ago & I thought it would be nice to use in his memory iyswim .
anyway so girl would be -

Sadie Liesel Cheyenne

Is that too much ?

I'm guessing "chavvie" is like white trash?
I think Sadie is a nice name and Liesel is too German to be trashy.
Ruairi Atticus Norton is pretty interesting and I certainly wouldn't expect to hear a "chavvie" person say that.
So go for it :)

Also agree not chavvy, I really love the name Sadie (although could your mum be thinking of certain accents, in a strong Dublin accent it's not so good, for example. But then, many lovely names don't sound great in a strong Dublin accent!).

Zs and Xs in a name seem to lend themselves to the xxx world, with the possible exception of Xanthe, Zipporah and Hephzibah.

Zara is a stripper's name.

I saw it being dismissed on another thread because it was "too royal" so I'm not sure where the stripper thing comes in! Grin

Candy is a strippers name. Destiny, Heavenleigh, Dallas, but not Zara.

Was your Mum a fan of that song form the 60s "Sadie the Cleaning Lady"?

I think it's got more Sadie Frost associations these days. Not chavvy.

Lovely first names. And IMO all MNs are entirely personal and - given that they won't be used daily - are irrelevant to anyone other than the children's parents and the child itself.

I'm using Norton after my Df

All girls in my family have two middle names and I'd like to keep to that tbh

As for the spelling of Ruairi , I love it because it's so Irish and as for the spelling as long as the people that matter know the spelling then it doesn't really bother me at all Smile

You've got to please yourself you know, not your mother or anyone else. Stop telling her the names you're considering! I think Sadie is nice, not at all chavvy. But since you asked for suggestions, what about:

Sadie is not REMOTELY chavvy!

Might have been considered so, though, in years gone by (1970s). But is v classic and stylish now.

Sadie to me's quite trendy! Sadie Frost etc. Liesel, v German, good if it goes with your surname but would she have to spell it to people? Same for Ruairi - requires a bit of thought to spell right and I would hesitate over pronunciation. Maybe not a huge issue but could niggle. Do you really need a second middle name for a girl? I have 2 and it's just a pain.
Not keen on Atticus or Norton personally - isn't the latter allegedly chavvy in a surname as fore/middle name? But definitely better as middle than first names! And easier to spell than Ruari - oh no I see it's Ruairi...

Brian O' Driscoll ex Irish rugby captain ( and Irish hero) and his wife named their first baby Sadie.
They are not in the slightest chavvy.

Love both Sadie and Ruairi. I'm from NI and "get" the Les Dawson/hospital cleaner type connotation with Sadie but those days are gone as I also teach 4 year olds and in the past 6 or 7 years I've taught/known a few. Ruairi is a lovely name. I prefer it to Rory. I taught one a few years ago who replaced "r" with "w" so he was "woo-wee"! Very cute!!! He can say it properly now but he'll always be woo-wee to me!!
