I have found Romillie / Romilly so you are right Toucanet.

I thought it was Romilly - oh dear.

Probably those who've looked at baby name books know better than me. Though if you only know the spelling from looking at names would you want to give a child that label?! If I get there will be going for something simple, you know, Adam, Eve etc!

Sadie was the name of my neighbours dog back in the day. She was a lovely dog. :)

Ruairi isnt my favourite Irish boy's name at all. Prefer Cillian, Oisin, Ciaran.

Sadie is not chavvy imo. But it does look like 'sad' i.e. someone who is a saddie to me.

I think Sadie is a lovely name and I know a little girl called Sadie and it suits her beautifully.
The only slightly obscure name I can think of that I love is Romalie. My friend's daughter is a Romalie and I love the name and would use it myself if it wasn't for the fact she'd beat me to it!

Realised my post made no sense. Pronunciation is "Ott" (to rhyme with "hot") - "illy" - so "Ottilly".

DP is called Ottilie - it's pronounced "Oh-till-ee"

Holly - you ask about 'Ottilie'. It's from Germany, and the traditional pronouciation of it is something like Ot-tee-lih-yuh. The final 'e' is sounded. www.behindthename.com/name/ottilie

On the other hand, French speakers say: Ot-teel-lee.

The traditional English version was/is Ottoline (Ott-oh-leen) not Ottolie. So if you prefer 'Otillie', then I think you have to choose which foreign pronounciation you prefer, and copy that!

I have a great Aunt and a cousin called Sadie (well I recently found out they're called Sarah), i don't think its chavvy but do associate it with older women.

If DD was a boy she would've been Ruairi because we have Irish connections on my side rather than the Scottish Rhuaraidh because DP is dyslexic and despite trying couldn't write it and I love it but I think it sounds too much with the middle names you've chosen.

Well 2 middle names does give you more flexibility/options instead of having to pin it down to one, and though I find it a pain when you have to give it/them, does seem a little posh in a way! (Not more than 2 though e.g. not a whole football team)!

Saskia's ok. You wouldn't want to give her the initials SS though would you. Sorry personally don't like Cheyenne at all though, to me does seem chavvy (while Mercedes a posh-ish girl's name as well as a car, don't think that's true for Cheyenne)! More relevant to you perhaps it sounds a bit odd with Sadie Liesel? If I were you would stick to those 2 - they were your first choice after all. Don't feel obliged just because your Df liked it - unless you really do too.

Sadie has been hijacked by chavs in the north-east. I heard it being screamed in Asda in Newcastle last week so that has clouded my view of the name! I agree with the previous poster tht Saskia is an alternative with considering. Your boy name initials spell 'RAN' if that bothers you? I love Ruairi. Atticus is very popular in South West London, where I live, but as a middle name tht is probably far less important.

I like Sadie! And I LOVE German sounding names (for no reason in particular, they just sound pretty to me).

Bugger everyone else, pick the name YOU love! However, if like me you chose a name and then someone as important as a DM apposed it (we really liked Josephine, but this was poo-pooed big time by MIL) it kind of taints the name forever and I couldn't enjoy it after that.

We've now chosen a different name and haven't told a soul. I won't even say it on here because I know people will have strong opinions about the spelling (we've chosen the UK version, not the French and this seems to spark utter disgust in people for some reason, even though it's a very old English name and features in lots of 1800's poetry and literature!!).

Anyhoo, my point is, 'chavvy' is a matter of opinion. The name I've picked isn't chavvy (it's quite a traditional name) but I still know of 'chavs' who have that name. Sadie just doesn't evoke any chavvy images in my head.

I'm not even sure I know what chavvy means thinking about it.

However, if like you I was lucky enough to have a German surname I would take full advantage and go for a German (or Scandinavian?) sounding first name. Just because I love them do much, especially Leisel/Liesel.

I don't like the spelling of Ruairi (I think I posted on a previous thread re the name "Eilidh" that I knew a Ruairi and it looks like he doesn't know how to spell his name ) but I'm Scottish and would always spell it Rhuaridh.

As mentioned above, the Sadies I know are old, balshy, bingo-playing busybody types but it could be cute on a little girl.

Hmm, do you have Cheyenne blood in the family? If not I'd skip that one as it sounds odd (and potentially chavvy I'm afraid).

If you want to avoid that C thing then I would not use Cheyenne, though it is the third name and therefore not that big a deal really. Is there any other name associated with your DF?
