Which names do you IRRATIONALLY dislike?

@ Spanners I agree about Amelia. How did it get so popular?!? I always saw it as a morose, whiny sort of name. If you're born in the 70s I think it was actually rather UNpopular in the 80s?

Always hated: Ruth, Hannah, Lee, Katherine/Kathleen.
Also: Tyler/Riley/Tyrone/Tyson/Ryan and Jayden and co, Kyle, Alfie..Always these names are screeched by mum in a most unappealing way.
Dislike Irish names used where the person has no Irish heritage.
Trend for anything -Mae is boring.

Freya it makes me think of cheese.

Like others here, I can't stand the name Chloe. It sounds sticky and smug.

Cutesy-poo nicknamey names like Ellie/Millie/Tillie/Poppy/Alfie/Albie/Bertie. I am sorry, but some of these names are not going to date or age well.

Beatrice - I can't get my head around the popularity of this name. I think its really ugly and it conjures up an image of a middle aged drab frumpy woman when I hear it.

Freya - wet wet wet

Lauren - reminds me of a wannabe reality star even though I know a lovely little Lauren.

Natalie and Natasha - I have no idea why I dislike these names so much. I just do.

Jackie/Jacqui - its so masculine and bulky.

Penelope - can't get the image of The Good Life out of my head and I find it cumbersome to look at.

EllieElla/Ellen - I really can't stand this but it may be because I knew a terrible Ellen.

Charlotte/Sharon - I dislike the beginning of these names although the literary connection with Charlotte appeals to me, I can't get past how drippy the name sounds to my ears.

Emily - prissy and passive aggressive.
Charlie / Alfie

Amelia. I fucking hate it, horrible whiny sound, Ahh-meeel-lia. My lovely niece is called it but shortened to Millie which doesn't sound quite so bad.

Annabelle and Amelia - not sure why, doesn't sound nice to me, too weak and nothing-ish despite looking so pretty!
Isaac - I like the IDEA of this name but never comes out right IRL (I-sack? I-Zak? I-Zuk?)
Fleur - again, feels weird to say it! Burgh?!
Joshua - It's the 'SHU-AH' on the end that never feels right! Jo-Shua? Josh-ua? Josh is OK!
William - Again, don't like the sound of it, but like the idea of it!

I once read a book in which some kids started up a club with the acronym ISAAC, and I've hated the name Isaac ever since. No idea why, because I didn't particularly hate the book .

A name that makes me cringe is Melvin.

This thread is hilarious . My name's been mentioned loads (I love it btw), and my DD is Alice. Actually really odd to read so many, I assume, adults writing things like "I hate Alice"!. I, obviously, love the name and DD is absolutely gorgeous, so yah boo sucks! DS's name's also been mentioned and both my DNs! Funny thread, just about masquerading under the irrational theme. Just.
