Which names do you IRRATIONALLY dislike?

Christopher and Christian. They are horrid. I don't know why but they are.

any D names... Daniel, David, Doreen... makes me cringe!

Joshua is a meh name for me my friend has one and he's lovely but I find it so boring sorry!
There lots of make names that I really dislike yet love the female version of them Iyswim so Frank, George, Philip, Harry yet adore the feminine versions of those names.
Really dislike Florence, Beatrice, Matilda and Daisy just not for me at all. Surprised Alice is getting a bashing think its a lovely name.

Cuthbert just makes me think of Cuthbert Cringeworthy!Do people really use that?

I quite like Persephone though!I know a little 'sephi'.

I thought that about Sarah in the 1980s-there were so many of them.

Really hate the 'trendy' (Eden, Nico, Kayden) and 'retro/vintage' names (Ivy, Ada, Albie) they're just going to date so quickly and those poor kids are going to have to live with them for the rest of their lives just because their parents thought they were being cool??
Most of the time it's just to impress their friends and keep up with the Joneses. Utterly pretentious.
Then there's those names that just make you raise your eyes to the heavens (Athena, Persephone, Cuthbert).
I also hate that people are so boring and can't be bothered or simply have no imagination (Sarah, Jane, Johnathon, David). You spend nine months waiting for your baby to arrive and in all that time you can't think of anything decent to name your child?? Or you just go along with everyone else on the estate (Jade, Chelsea, Kai).
Also in the same vein, names that end up looking ridiculous as initials (Violet Ann Jones) and Christian names that grate with surnames (John Thomas) Oh, and those names that clash with your brother's and/or sister's (Chris and Fliss)......think it through people!!

Isabella, Olivia and Ella all sound pompous to my ears but I know there's nothing wrong with them.

I am surprised Alice is so unpopular too I wish I had of been called Alice instead of my more dated similar sounding name.
I dislike Pretentious names like Reuben, Tarkquin, Jeremy,Timothy. Also Nigel,Barry ,
Girls wise don't like Liz, Heidi,Susan,Keira,Lisa,Iona, could go on and on !

I absolutely hate any name used for an English king - you can't get more irrational then that! Henry, Edward, George, William: they all set my teeth on edge. Foreign kings are ok though.

And Xanthe!

A xanthelasma is a yellow lesion under the eye linked with raised cholesterol. Why would anyone call their child after a skin disease?

Most Flower names. they all sound trite

Regina. A name loved by Poash people apparently, but it sounds SO wrong
Same with Vanessa. The V is too harsh and gutteral and The Va part is too much like Va gina Just yucky.

Alice is a pretty name. Surprised to see people don't like it. Alicia is nice as well.

I know somebody with a Lavinia and yes, first thing that springs to mind is nickname 'Lavvy' or 'Loo' or whatever other crueler ones kids'll undoubtedly come out with for her, at some point!

Really "trendy", made-up sounding names. They just bug me, I can't help but pull a stupid face when I hear them. Usually things like variations of Hayden: Kayden, Jayden etc. And Cason, Mason etc.

MadeInChorley - every single word of that is gold-studded, nun-endorsed truth. When I was expecting dd1 I had a dream that dp and I argued about the name Bernadette, which he was determined to give her, and woke up sobbing.

When / where I was at school, 12% of the girls were called Bernadette, and the remaining 88% took it as their confirmation name. A sickening hegemony of sheet-laundering Bernie-dom

Bernard is possibly the most awful boys name in the first place, and adding "ette" to the end to feminise it makes it all but intolerable. It's soooo stodgy and ugly and depressing - it is a name given to fallen women who are enslaved by nuns. And the only nickname would be Bernie... Which is just utterly dreadful in every respect.

Louise - Loo and Wheeze together. Always detested it. And the name of my DF's wife, who is not exactly my favourite person, so now it's completely rubbish in my view. Sorry if there are lots of Louise MNeters
