Which names do you IRRATIONALLY dislike?

This is not certainly not meant to be a "bitchy names thread". The emphasis is on the word IRRATIONAL. i.e. there are some names that are perfectly innocuous, lots of other people like them, I've known some lovely people with those names (so no obvious bad associations) BUT for some reason I've always disliked them. Would be interested in hearing anyone else's bugbear names!

ANNA - just too symmetrical, and (to my ears) smug and boring

LUCINDA - I like Lucy, but for some reason the "inda" really turns me off this name

Anything with "BELLE"on the end.Annabelle, Isabelle etc Pretty on paper, but I just don't like the sound for some reason

BEATRICE again irrational, but the combination of sounds just doesn't do it for me, it does the opposite of "trip off the tongue"

This is not meant to be in any way offensive. My 3 children have really "Marmite" names, and I don't mind at all that some people don't like them.
I just think everyone finds that certain sounds "jar" with them. Do others find this?

On a different note, the Baby Names topic is brilliant and I have been a long time lurker!

Shiloh Pitt is a particularly bad name, if you swap the 1st letters around you get Pile O Sh*t!

Also Brad and Angelina's very random 'Shiloh Nouvel' sounds like a brand of toilet paper.

I found it irrationally irritating that Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis recently named their baby daughter Wyatt. WYATT!? Why? It isn't pretty, it doesn't mean anything... It's just a sound. It's a bit like calling a baby 'blah.' A beautiful little girl deserves a proper name.

Also all the usual: Lily-May, Mai/Maia/Mae, Ava/Eva, Eve/Evelyn/Evie, Ella/Ellie, Sophie/Sophia. Zzzzzzzzz.

I can't stand Adrian (weak and wimpy sounding) or Elliot (arrogant). Not sure why I have those associations.

Anything that has been 'invented' to try to be different and just sounds stupid and would probably be better on a dog . Names of cities , places nope doesn't work for me.

I hate all names that are also a word, like Rob, Mark, Pete, Frank (although like Frankie), Heath, Sandy, Neil etc. But I really like Will and I can't explain why!

I really dislike Daniel, Josh, Luke, Max, Mia, Molly, Imogen and most of all Olivia. No reason, just annoys me intensely.

Both my DCs names have been mentioned more than once!

Girls names ending in elle instead of el. Annabel is perfectly nice, Annabelle - no. It's affected and it's not necessary.

Names ending in ie unless a nickname. Even then actually.

Names spelt differently - why? Eg Lillie instead of Lily. She will spend an entire lifetime correcting people.

I love Francis, from the Saint to the short version "Frank" which is a good adjective too.

Christopher (plus Kit) and Nicholas give me the creeps, irrationally.

You are quite wrong about that, MiddletonPink. Francis is the worst name in the entire world.

How can you love it? I can just about get my head round someone not minding it, I suppose, but loving it? Makes no sense at all. It's beyond my comprehension.

I'm so glad a previous poster said initial 'D' names. I dislike almost all initial 'B' names - Barry, Bob, Beatrice, Ben, Bernadette - esp girls names actually. No reason whatsoever but they make me shudder.

Philip or Philippa (inc Pip/Pippa).

Just terrible. I don't know why. They're not screamingly class-laden (either end), overused or difficult to spell or pronounce. They should be nice really. They aren't though.

Francis for a boy is vile. Frances for a girl is ok. I have no explanation for this.
