I love the name Isla but it is far to overused/popular for me but I heard the name AYLA today (pronounced
A-La) and think its a nice alternative.
Abit of googling suggests that in some countries this would still b pronounced as Eye-La but to my UK eyes I would read it with the Ay sound.

She would be Ayla Mabel W..

Any other similar suggestions very welcome, i like short names, surname is long.

The only Ayla I've come across was pronounced Isla.

I know an Ayda pronounced eye-da. Not if your surname is Downe though.

I know an Ayla. People seem to often pronounce it Isla. She is an adult, and it's definitely not a name I've heard within children.

My friend has just had a daughter called Ayla but pronounced Isla so you may find she does get called Isla rather than AY-la

Ayla will definitely be a name that will need to spelt out on a daily basis and to be honest I think it's so similar to Isla that you might as well pick Isla.
