I have called my dd elle (ellie) but everyone calls her el
I understand that in English it spells el but if you look up how to pronouce elle it comes up with el or ellie
it's making me feel like I have done it wrong people will judge me for it.
has anyone been in the same situation or have any advice?

Ellie sounds more like a nickname, tbh. I expect relatives and friends to pick up on Ellie, but new people who first meet her written name will be calling her Elle (el) all the time.

Just call her Elle (el), then.

You will have to remind people that you are choosing to pronounce her name differently to the way it is spelled

I suppose the person everyone would have heard of with that name is Elle McPherson, who pronounces it El.

Also most people learned French at school and the word elle is pronounced El.

Only advice I have really is if you give your child a name and want to use the less obvious/common pronunciation then expect people to get it 'wrong' a lot! Probably not very helpful. I'm sure people will soon start calling her Ellie when you've corrected them.
