The band Marillon had a top 10 single called Kayleigh in 1985. That name was almost unheard of before them.

Isn't Dylon the name of a fabric dye?
Jaxon. Surely eveyone will think Jackson first?
Where did names like Kayleigh & Jayden / Kaiden come from? Somebody must have started it...
In my eyes the name is Claire, not Clare. That name always reminds me of The Breakfast Club.
Molly / Polly names ending in i or ie - just no.

Hi Marmite. Dylon looks like Die-lon to me, as in Die-son (Dyson) not Dylan. Some names just looks daft spelled different.

I had to look, look and look again before figuring out the op spelling was an alternative to Lily.
Dylon reminds me of Dyson Hmm
I don't understand the desperate need to spell differently, if it is pronounced the same it doesn't make it any less popular, or change what the name actually is

I have a less common (but proper) spelling of a fairly common name and that's annoying enough having to spell it for people.

There's an interesting chapter in Freakanomics as to why made-up spellings are tied to less success in life.

Leia isn't the same name as Leah though. It's not pronounced the same way (lay - ya rather than Lee-a) and has different origins (think George Lucas).

Of course the other thing to bear in mind is that if the name was originally in a different script (eg Greek, Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew etc) then there may be no 'right' Latin script version.

My d.d is Molly. I was going to spell it Moli but written down it looked daft. I could have actually spelt it like Liliegh but Moliegh or Molli or Mollee.
I'm kicking myself I never thought more about it now

I have an unusual spelling of an ordinary name. It's actually a long established spelling in my family, not a whim of my parents.

Nonetheless, it's a pain in the arse.
