Ryleegh - dd went to nursery with him and wrote his name. I praised her for her writing then showed her how to spell the name (she was just 4) and she said no she'd spelt it right. I checked the peg at nursery and yep she was right.
I hate it. My friend had a Christmas baby and named her Holly which I thought was lovely until she said it's spelt Hollie. Just why?

The best one I've come across is a surname used as a first name but with a different spelling. So, they took the surname Traynor, gave it as a first name but spelt it ...

Trainer.

I swear to fucking God. Fucking 'Trainer'. I mean, why not just call your kid 'Shoe' and have done with it.

Nevaeh is bad enough, but you also see Neveah pn nuhVAYuh and the parent says "it's heaven spelt backwards". No, it's haeven spelt backwards.

My name is Anne. Yes it's the less common spelling, but it's not wrong, or a new spelling. I come from an Irish Catholic background and St Anne was the mother of Mary, so this is where it comes from.

I'm not one for 'interesting' spellings of names but I take umbrage at the pp who suggested it looks wrong.

Lea I think may be a Filipino name. The only one I've come across is Lea Salonga who was in the original Kim in Miss Saigon.

I've taught a RECCE who swore his name was pronounced as Rhys.

You could report it to Snopes, as they've been trying to find a RL La-a for years now. A school confirming that they had one on the roll should be enough to end the myth.

The La-a thing is an urban myth.

I have met one. I honestly know a real one. I've not taught her but she was at my school. I have no way to prove this so you will just need to take my word for it.

That aircraft was named after Enola Gay (the mother of the pilot). Enola was probably the Nevaeh of its day.

Enola is a valid name/correct spelling. was on our list till we realised it's connection to Hiroshima (name of the plane that dropped the bomb) and backwards spells 'alone'

i saw the ayprill - i wasnt sure how it was to be pronounced at first.

my nn comes from a mispelling of my name from a polish collegue Grin
