Margot? I posted on here a while ago looking for a sibling name to go with DD Amelie. French living in UK. Do you like it ? Would pronunciation be an issue ? Thanks

I absolutely love it and it's my top name but we have a daughter called Edith and I'm told these are the characters from Despicable Me! I've not seen the film, but very disappointed if it's a no-go. Do you think it is? Margot Tenenbaum is very cool. Go for it!

Lila is a genuinely nice name. Can I use AJ without it being short for anything?!? He wasn't he one who died after Jessica spiked his drink was he?

I like it! We have a Margaret and she is mostly Maggie, but we call her Margot occasionally. :)

I think of Gwyneth Paltrow's character in the Royal Tennenbaums :o

Shake wasn't Margot (in SVH) the girl who looked like Jessica and Elizabeth and was trying to kill one and take her place?

I LOVE the name Margot and wish I'd thought of it 13 years ago when I had a DD to name, instead of the "out of the charts unpopular but about to hit the Top 10 in the next 10 years" name that we chose.

Amelie and Margot sound great together.

FYI though...you're a French mum living in the UK, you can call your kid what the Hell you like and, with your accent, it will still sound fantastic!!

It wasn't Margot Fonteyn who said that to Jean Harlow, it was Margot Asquith!

As for nicknames - Margot often is used as a nickname for Margaret or Marguerite.

I am biased but I love it! I'm English living in France but have never had pronunciation issues with English friends and family. I think it goes beautifully with Amelie too.

Thanks all, some great positive feedback. Not sure about the nick name, the french do not tend to abbreviate names as much as here in the UK !
