What are unusual names that have stood out for you in your dc's class?

There is an Alaska which makes me smile every time I hear it and a Francesca and Emma which are nice because they are names that I hardly hear on children.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

moxon · 08/10/2014 15:51

Aw, Matteo is a great name!

elsbethy · 08/10/2014 15:50

We've got a Matteo. He is very cute, it suits him. Plus all the kids seem to love saying it, which is quite sweet.

There's a girl called Mary is ds's reception year, she is so tiny and I always call her little Mary (in my head Confused) she makes me smile.

I haven't noticed any others

cowbiscuits · 08/10/2014 15:44

We know a 3 year old called Susan. I think it's really pretty and simple, it's nice that it's being used again. I like Susie as a nickname too.

Everyone in DS's nursery has nice but not unusual names.

"Hi, I'm here for my bigass corporate multimillion Pound job interview."
"And you are?"
"Sparkle. Sparkle Grayson."
"Sorry, we don't appoint My Little Ponies in senior positions."

thegreylady · 08/10/2014 15:43

There is a Ptolemy in dgs1's class.

MadeInChorley · 08/10/2014 15:41

There's a Billy-Roy (very sweet, shy boy) a Lyric (also a boy, which surprised me as had wrongly assumed Lyric would be a girl) also Winter

moxon · 08/10/2014 15:39

Sparkle?!

Leeds2 · 08/10/2014 15:37

Sparkle

PatriciaHolm · 08/10/2014 15:36

We have a Sunshine!

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 08/10/2014 15:33

Yep!

grufallosfriend · 08/10/2014 15:32

Any name that makes a refreshing change from the Avas/Evies/Sophies/Alfies and Jacks makes me smile! Love some of the names on here, especially Florentine and Winston.

moxon · 08/10/2014 15:28

Grayson Gray? Hmm

ThinkIveBeenHacked · 08/10/2014 15:02

My DD goes to a playgroup with a little biy called Grayson, which whilst I think is a lovely name, it is somewhat marred by the fact that his surname is Gray.

Why!?

devoncreamtea · 08/10/2014 14:58

There was an Ocean in my daughter's school, not to my taste, but nice imagery.

I also know a Mitzy-Fae. She is like a heroine from 19c children's literature, I like it.

SmilingandWaving · 08/10/2014 14:41

DS goes to nursery with a little boy named Balthazar. They call him by his full name as well which seems so strange when you see the tiny, fair haired, blue eyed boy that answers.

I think it's an awesome name though.

Myhensareladies · 08/10/2014 14:34

We have a Princess, makes me smile every time.

nicename · 08/10/2014 14:30

I read an autobiography where the authors brother was called Space Conqueror. It was in Maoist China though...

LadyHamiltonsPussy · 08/10/2014 14:30

Gin ShockGrin

We have a Betsy-Boo at preschool which makes me smile.

Steben · 08/10/2014 14:27

Rocky and Lolita

spiderlight · 08/10/2014 14:25

There's a little girl in the nursery at my son's school called Gin Grin

LizzieMint · 08/10/2014 14:18

Not quite the same but I had a customer once whose surname was Sunshine, I thought that was lovely. I'd love to be a Sunshine!
