Baylor?

We were originally going with Laurel for our DD, but DH discovered this today and really likes it, but I'm a little unsure - what are MN's opinions?
He really likes the meaning of it and it does fit our family - it means horse trainer.

Fwiw I think combi is starting to grow on me - it's quite feminine and you could hyphenate it. Combi-Boilor, Combi-Arvesta.

Please, please, please don't do this. I know it's the law to smile and say "how lovely/unusual" when told a new baby's name but there's no way I could stop myself from repeating incredulously, "Baylor? BAYLOR???" if a friend told me this was her child's name.

I am going to go against the grain and say that I like Baylor (bay-lor though, not bay-luh). It may not be a common name in the UK but I have met a fair few Baylors in Canada - it is a definite North American name.

Baylor is meh. Not the worst name I've ever heard. I'm American though. :o

I also think of the little brother in Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. Baylor Walker.

In my accent it is very definitely Bay-luR, not Bay-la.

I really don't see the appeal of spelling Jasmine as Jazmyn or Jazmynn.

OK so written down it 'unique' but unless you pronounce it differently you are surely still one of however many kids in the class called Jasmine.

Ratta reminds me of that awful Chanson d'Amour song from the 1970's where the backing singers 'ratta-tat-a-tat' along cheesily to all the schmaltzy lyrics.
