If it were completely your choice...

What names would you choose?

There are lots of names that my dh and I don't agree on. If you could use any name you wanted, what would it be?

Personally I'd be using Sally, which I have loved since I was a girl. I'd also use Elijah, but DH won't hear of it.

Luckily DH loved my absolute favourite girls name so that was what we called DD Smile. Don't think we'll be so lucky for any subsequent children. I'm rubbish with boys names, can't think of any I love so DH will probably get his choice there. If we had another girl I love Imogen but DH doesn't like it.

Beatrix Coco & Hugh Alexander

But DH was having none of it.

3pigsinblanketsandasausagerole · 05/10/2014 07:50

Elliot and Marnie

Scarletbanner · 05/10/2014 07:44

DH vetoed Kitty. I vetoed Rachael.

poppydaisy · 05/10/2014 07:38

Clara & Quentin

Lookingforfocus · 04/10/2014 22:15

Dominic for a boy - vetoed by DH, he wanted Wailea - vetoed by me.

DDs names we both liked.

JadeJ123 · 04/10/2014 22:14

For a boy Morgan Theodore and for a girl Dyllan Louise Rose

Although Alec is my number 2 boys name. We both agreed on DS name Smile

Clementine

Alec

I managed to change DHs thinking from 'No way!' to 'Best name ever!' for DS1. DS2 was way harder. I wanted Ezra, Etienne, Rex, Ziggy ... he didn't. We went for a name that was a compromise and that I love but 19 months later I still think my choices would've suited him better. Sad

honeysucklejasmine · 04/10/2014 22:02

DH and i still haven't found a boys name we both like. There is one potential. He insists on the long form which i hate! He refuses the believe that the short form is a name in its own right. For example Christopher/Chris.

Unfortunately i taught for a number of years, so most names come with a personality attached to them!

Dashiell

Turquoisetamborine · 04/10/2014 21:21

Eleanor Valentina for a girl. He loves Valentina, hates Eleanor. Or Estelle or Rhonda. Sorry cheating.

Frankie for a boy.

Our surname begins with F but I like alliteration.

lornemalvo · 04/10/2014 21:12

Catherine and Jonathan

OutDamnSpot · 04/10/2014 21:02

I have 3 dd and if any had been a DS I still don't know what I would have called him.

Dd3 would've been Thea if I'd had my way. I did get my way with favourite name eventually though - JoanJett my dh vetoed Eloise for dd1 but guess what dd2 is called Grin

fuzzpig · 04/10/2014 21:01

The boys' name in my head right now is Ezra Julian.

Can't actually think of any girls' names though - lots I quite like but I'm not in love with anything.

flipflopsandcottonsocks · 04/10/2014 20:59

Matilda and Buddy (totally do not go together at all!)

Middleagedmotheroftwo · 04/10/2014 20:58

Your friend has good taste calzone!

missingwordsround · 04/10/2014 20:56

I am incredibly lucky that when we had DD, DH loved my favourite name so much that he preferred it to his suggestion. I loved his suggestion - so we ended up using this for her middle name. Both are incredibly unusual names [ so can't say without outing myself ]

If DD had been a DS, I have no idea - I love Tobias, Rafael, Saul, Reuben, Benedict, Daniel, James, Rex, David, Michael and Matthew. DH is not keen on any of those, so thank goodness DD was a girl!

Thurlow · 04/10/2014 20:47

Decca, which DP will never got on board with, and Alastair, which he would if DD didn't have pretty much the female version already

Angelto5 · 04/10/2014 20:38

Logan & Kerry but unfortunately don't go with our surname.

Ilikepie · 04/10/2014 19:59

i would have liked Clover to be at least on our long list but DH vetoed it on the grounds that it is a cow's name and a spread. DD would have been so nice as a Clover. I mean she's so nice anyway, but i'm still not sure we picked the right name.

DrTeethAndTheElectricMayhem · 04/10/2014 19:47

For the children I have, DS1 would have been William and DS2 Sebastian. If we'd had girls then they would have been Simone and Dominia

cece · 04/10/2014 19:46

If my DH hadn't rudely interfered in the naming of our children then I would have had;

Helen
Sidney
Gregory

If I hadn't interfered we would have had;

Helen
Ethan
Noel

and for some odd reason DD was not named Helen. No idea why!

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 04/10/2014 19:43

Mine would have been Isadora, Jude and Gregory.
