What do you think?
My DD is Clara and I want something similar, i.e. classic but not common.

It is if you are not a cool teen that Wilfred is a problem. You can't tell from looking at a baby.

DanyStormborn · 04/10/2014 21:12

I love Wilfred, Wilf is a great nickname.

Toadsrevisited · 04/10/2014 19:00

I know several and it's one of my fave boys names. Go for it! Wilf is best nn IMO

fizzymittens · 04/10/2014 18:58

I KNOW a cool teen called Wilfie!

Delphiniumsblue · 04/10/2014 18:58

It depends if he has the personality to carry it off - Clara won't have that problem.

Bowlersarm · 04/10/2014 18:35

Hate it. Can't imagine a cool teen/adult called Wilfred. He'll always live at home with his mummy.

I quite like Clara though (shame she's got a much nicer name than her brother...)

BestIsWest · 04/10/2014 18:33

Yes, love it.

boredofdinosaurs · 04/10/2014 18:32

We met a 4 year old Wilfred at the park last week. His mother was calling him both Wilfy and Fifi.

fizzymittens · 04/10/2014 18:28

Also LOVE the name Arthur but it doesn't go well with Clara I guess as they do sound similar.

minkah · 04/10/2014 13:53

Do you find it easy to say and call? "Wilf"... Doesn't roll harmoniously off the tongue for me.

Names ending in 'f' , I can only think of adolf, or gandalf?

sleepdodger · 04/10/2014 12:09

Love it
Ds should be wilf but for tantrum inducing reasons he's not!!

nomoreminibreaks · 04/10/2014 11:58

Like it - and think it goes well with your daughter's name. If it's a bit out there for him when he gets older he can go as Will, Fred, Freddie etc.

minkah · 04/10/2014 11:44

Clara is a beautiful name. In terms of having an old mans name to go with it, I'd choose a more elegant one. What about Sydney or Edwin?

fizzymittens · 04/10/2014 11:42

It's really lovely. Go for it.

Delphiniumsblue · 04/10/2014 08:44

I just don't like 'old man' names,so if you do, you have to ignore people like me!

emmaloulabelle · 04/10/2014 07:28

Well apart from a few people not liking it, nobody's said anything so far that's put me off!

I also know two Wilf's. I love it.

Delphiniumsblue · 03/10/2014 20:51

Really dislike it.

Ludways · 03/10/2014 20:44

I know a 2 year old, I didn't like it at first but it has really grown on me and I love it now.

Sophronia · 03/10/2014 20:37

Love it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/10/2014 18:12

I like it, although Wilf doesn't do much for me. I like Fred.

emmaloulabelle · 03/10/2014 18:07

Thanks. I knew not everyone would love it, but we had that with Clara.

WittyUsername102 · 03/10/2014 16:53

Love it, know 2 Wilf's.

poppydaisy · 03/10/2014 16:52

I love Clara!

But I hate Wilfred! Both the Will (willy) and the Fred part are not nice imo.
