Help!! Difficult choice of boys names: Sean, Daniel or Balonz?

Dear MNers. Hoping you might all be able to help us out as we’re having real difficulty agreeing a name for DS due soon. For DD, we went 'rare'. Weren’t sure we were quite ready to find some ultra-weird name, but equally there are millions of Kates, Elizabeths and so ons.

For DD though, we’re thinking a much more traditional name, perhaps inspired by close friends/family. What are MNers’ thoughts on either Sean, Daniel or Balonz? Many thanks in advance!

Just read this through (great fun!). Am I the only one that thought, after the horror that is Balonz, that data is a nice name for a girl?

I told somebody about 'Balonz' and they assured me it's an old Basque name. Any native Basque speakers on here? Grin

I like Daniel/dan/Danny. I'm not a fan of Sean (have a slightly wayward nephew called Sean) and have never heard of balonz. Is it a typo?

cedricsneer I'm really, really not (and MNHQ will verify that). As I'd hope is somehow clear underneath the joshing in this thread, I'm a huge fan of mumsnet.

Unfortunately Drowned in Sound is rather plagued by prepubescent boys and it seems one has followed me over. Sad

Oh no, the Balonz japery has come to an ignominious end.

It was fun while it lasted. I love the way the first half of the Other Thread on the Other Site keeps quoting the more straightforward posts and hur hurring at their own cleverness... until even they can no longer ignore the HILARITY herein and all defect to MN.

I thought it must be a pisstake because the surrey line was just too good to be true! Comedy genius.

But I'm soooo disappointed because Balonz is such a great bane, but Data for a girl is even better! I genuinely like them, especially Data. OK Balonz is too mad, but it's still cool. 100yo Balonz from Surrey is a real person in my head now.

Apologies, this thewarn character has nothing to do with me (or, I'm sure, the original thewarn on our forum). I feel like an explorer who has unkowingly bestowed a hideous disease on to an indigenous population. SadSadSad

WTAF is going on? THe sound cloud people seem normal, Balonz/warn/someothersockery seems a bit….unhinged? This is funny, the AIBU smacks of nasty bastardery.
