Well this IS a surprise...

I've just POAS and found I'm expecting DC3. In total shock. So, I figure I'll start a baby name thread! :o

We already have Samuel (7) and Margaret (almost 16 months) mostly called Sam and Maggie, so I sort of would like to continue the formal name with nickname trend.

Also I am sure it is a boy. :o

Some names I like and were on our shortlist for the others were Jack (doesn't really go with our surname, but would if I went for Jackson), William called Will, and Alexander called Alec. We loved Charles/Charlie but a close friend is using that. Also briefly considered were Nathaniel/Nate and Benjamin/Ben.

Our surname is the same as a certain "journalist" who thinks she's gorgeous, married to a Frenchman? Wink

For girls I like Phoebe, which doesn't fit with the nn thing, or Phillipa/Pippa, which does.

It's still wholly connected with Oscar the Grouch and a "joke" name, if that makes sense. Like Grover or Elmo or something. Those are names, but they're only thought of as the Muppet characters.

I love Primrose! I tried to push for it for DD:s middle name but it's just Rose. So I think Primrose is out.

Wowser I'm quite surprised myself! :)

I do like Oliver but DH doesn't. I also like Henry but not any nicknames for it.

My grandmother was called Dorothy, which was shortened to Dulcie. Dotty would also work.

Definitely Josephine (Josie), and Barnabas (Barney) is one that I am always surprised isn't more popular.

I love surfsup's suggestions of Hattie and Josie, especially Josephine/Jocelyn nn Josie, if a girl. Tam as short for Thomas came up in the 'jock' thread, and that might work for a boy?

I do really like Nathan but it's been slightly ruined by a teenager I worked with. Nice kid, clever in a book way, but oh so thick in the area of common sense. I used to want to bang my head on the wall every time he walked in :o

Some names which are probably out due to family members are Anne/ie and Kate (gutted as I love both of those), Joseph, and and El name.

I do love Louisa/Lulu Legion! Thanks. That was on our lost for DD but I'd forgotten.

I'm liking Caleb but DH doesn't.

William and Thomas seem like frontrunners for boys with DH but I'm not sure. I'd like something a little more unusual but still classic.

I love Archer/Archie but DH gave me a complete Hmm face so I guess that one's out!

I don't think Alec goes with the surname although I do like the name.
