Came across this name recently and it's really starting to grow on me.

When I suggested it to dh and dm they both said that she would get called Afro (likely also that this dd will have a head of curls)

But I said it again today to my dh and he said it is starting to grow on him.

What is the mumsnet consensus, do you like it? Is it ripe for teasing? What category would you put it in? I want an artsy/quirky name!

Not at all butch. Pretty and beautiful. I know a gorgeous little Aphra, all delicate and scrumptious! Before she was born id never heard of it. In Ireland we have Afric, which is reasonably popular... I think it's beautiful and I've never met an Afric who isn't tall and beautiful!

It's the same as Afra just a slightly different spelling!

Is it a differant name than Afra, I've always liked it, even though it means dust!

Aphrodite comes to mind. It's a nice name though.

I know a young Aphra, smart and lovely, never ever heard of any teasing regarding her name. It is a little quirky but her sister had very common name so maybe have just loved it!
