I really like joshua James and jj but my other sons middle name
James so it might be abit wierd them both having the same middle name

I think ideally you want something without a vowel ending.

Thanks for your replys everyone. I've told my partner riley is a definite no I'm warming more to the idea of joshua now , I don't mind if its quite popular so is my other sons name Charlie.
Ideas on middle names or other name suggestions would be appreciated:-)

I know a few Rileys and all of their parents are really chavvy (though I know I shouldn't say that...!)

I love Joshua and the only reason I removed it from the top slot of my shortlist is because my older cousin had a baby and called him Joshua.

KH is a total cunt, who gets paid for being a nasty cunt. I think her opinion is off little value to anyone.

Although I loved that she slagged off children named after places and has a DD called India. Not the brightest candle on the cake that one.

From a teacher's perspective: Joshua/josh is very common in primary school at the moment. Riley is the kind of name that Katie Hopkins would sneer over- sorry!

Hmm, I'd go for Joshua over Riley. Having 2 "y" sounds at the end could sound a bit cutsie (I'm assuming your Charlie is a boy?)

Riley is terrible and a bit (dare I say it) common.

Joshua is not my favourite name but much nicer. Am surprised it seems quite unpopular on here too. I think it has probably had its popularity spike around 10 years ago, and definitely do not encounter many Joshuas in my children's age group (baby to 5) so I wouldn't say it is too popular (Reuben seems to be the current in name around here!)

It seems Riley is a much hated name on mumsnet but I love it. In our area (norfolk) it's become almost a classic name and lots of different people from all walks of life seem to be using it. It is very, very popular though!

I like both Riley and Joshua. I think Joshua goes better with charlie because of the ee sound at the end.

Joshua by a long way. I really dislike the name Riley - it does seem very popular atm in RL though so maybe it's just me...
