Hi all.
Prepared to hear any names that may sound along the same lines as ones we've discussed and disagreed upon.
So I turn to the Mumsnet massive for help.

We don't know the sex so are pretty clueless atm.
Baby due December if that matters.

I love:
Girl: Noelle
Seren
Winter (this prob down to hormones)
Penelope
Athena

Boy: Tristan (my absolute favourite)
Jolyon (pronounced jo-lee-on)
Corin
Edward (probably end up with this as we both agree)

He loves:
Girl: Allegra (Bleurgh)
Sophie
Elizabeth (not hated by me but don't like all the nicknames it eventually attracts)
Meredith (mentioned last night, harsh sounding to my ears but may grow on me)

Boys:
Edward
Jodie!?!
Celeb

So as you see, very different. Any new names wise MNers? Or thoughts on those already dished out?

What do you want from a name? Unique / sounds good with surname / reminds you of someone etc...

Tristan doesn't sound nice to me, it's like Timmy. Bit wet, sorry.

Edward is lovely, Jodie is too girly imo. Did you mean Caleb? That's okay.

On the plus side, I like all your girl names.

diddl · 14/09/2014 09:48

Should that last boys name be Caleb?
if so, i think that that is fab-the best of the boys names listed.

Like both seren & Sophie.

Minion · 14/09/2014 10:01

Ahhh yes, autocorrect fail.
It's meant to be caleb! Thanks.

Beatrice has been bandied about a bit too. I'm worried it will become too popular though, we liked Florence and every man and his kid has that now, round here.

Sophie and Penelope are very pretty. Edward is nice but I don't like it shortened to Eddie, so I would be wary of that. Jolyon is also nice.

Surfsup1 · 15/09/2014 01:17

Francesca?
Anthea?
Phoebe?
Camilla?
Cosima?
Sabine/Sabrina?
Henry?
Tobias/Toby?
James?

From your list I like Sophie, Elizabeth and Edward.

Guin1 · 15/09/2014 16:21

My favourite from your girls is probably Meredith (nn Meg). Sophie is too popular.

My favourite from your boys is Edward, as I already have one, nn Teddy. I really like Tristan too, but it has a sad meaning. Definitely no to Jodie.

TabbyTurmoil · 15/09/2014 18:28

Love Penelope (I wasted it on the cat) and Corin (had a schoolfriend with that name so has good connotations plus think it's cool).

harryhausen · 15/09/2014 18:42

From your girl list I love Meredith nn Merri.
I also like Winter.
I don't like any of your Boys except Edward sorry.

For a girl I love
Clementine
Manon
Liberty

Boys -

Emerys
Rhodri
Angelo
(I'm struggling!)

fairyteepee · 15/09/2014 19:48

I like Edward, not a fan of of Tristan at all, or any of your other boys names TBH.

Love Alegra and Winter.

Congratulations!

Minion · 16/09/2014 07:19

No need to be sorry girls, that's why I'm asking. Oh god, still can't decide...

My favourite on the list is Caleb.

I know a male Jody so it should probably be spelt with a 'y' for a boy.
