Velvet for a baby name?

Hello, I am really loving the name Velvet for a girl. It has lots of lovely connotations for me from childhood being an avid fan of National and International Velvet and The Velveteen Rabbit.

I also love the Pixies song Velouria.

Am I missing something really obvious that will forever condemn future daughter to a life of cringe?

It makes me think of 'tipping the velvet' too. I wouldn't do it.

I rode a pony called Velvet once. It had a lovely velvety coat. Are you expecting a very hairy baby?

I can see why you think it should make a great name. But for me, for some reason it just doesn't.

Velvet loo rolls, vulva, Volvo.

I don't think I'd be brave enough.

My first thought was triple velvet, the loo roll ad.

I wouldn't like to be called Velvet.

, i know a Velvet and even her mum admits it was a stupid thing to call her!
She goes by her middle name and has done since she was about 9-10

I suppose if you were having it as a middle name, maybe, but not as a first name.

I'd probably nn Vee (or V) rather than Vel

Have to say ''tipping the velvet'' was what sprung to mind for me as well.

But I don't think its horrible and if you like it and it suits your family and your daughter, why not

I quite like it as middle name. I thought of the fabric. I think it would sound great with a 3 syllable first name with an 'l' in it as well eg. Amelie Velvet
