I find that hard to believe OldF0x, as she allowed Princess Anne to use Zara - which is still unusual afaik. Not sure that she has to give permission, or what the protocol is withinthe RF.

I believe The Yorks were thinking of calling one of their girls Annabel, and the Queen advised against because there was a nightclub called Annabel's which was always in the gossip columns.

I don't think the royals are any different from any family in this respect - it often takes mum or gran to point out something dodgy which you might have missed. I wonder if the Queen knows what a Prince Albert is? Grin

AlmaPudding, and the same for Fergie, the queen vetoed her choices too. I'd say times have changed. I think K&W would know themselves what would be a step too far for the public and I think they would do The Firm the courtesy of letting them be the first to know the name, but I hope ... they don't ask permission. Don't know why I care
