Thanks in advance (I can handle honesty at this stage!)

Seth- love it
Franklin-LOVE it
Dawson-James Van Der Beek...NO
Wyatt-cowboys

Britishseamonkey · 10/09/2014 17:37

*never sorry

Britishseamonkey · 10/09/2014 17:37

I know several Gabriel's have only ever heard people talk about 'gay boy' or 'girls name' on mumsnet. Meet in rl

likklemum · 07/09/2014 23:01

Love Gabriel (and Gabe) and also love, love, love Franklin. Smile

twinjocks · 07/09/2014 22:59

Seth

DramaAlpaca · 07/09/2014 22:15

I like Gabriel & Henry from your first list, and Auden & Josiah from your second.

I'm not keen on the others, and I particularly dislike Seth.

HilariousInHindsight · 07/09/2014 22:09

Good luck , even.

HilariousInHindsight · 07/09/2014 22:09

Seth and Henry are both nice names.

Not too keen on the others - sorry.mood luck :)

florascotia · 07/09/2014 21:00

Penguins yep, I see Smile Also agree that Seamus is a v. good name.

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 07/09/2014 20:16

Oh yes, I realise someone else did. I just meant that, in fairness to the OP, it wasn't her. Smile.

I love Seamus. I have listed it for all three of our kids. Two were girls and it got vetoed for the boy Sad

florascotia · 07/09/2014 20:09

Penguins - no, the OP didn't, but poster Zazie 7 DID. That's why I commented.

Not a big deal, of course, Smile but I did think it might be worth passing on the info JUST in case anyone did not happen to know.

Muskey · 07/09/2014 18:39

Gabriel where I come from is sometimes shortened to gay or gabe. It's a shame as Gabrielle is a beautiful name as is Gabriel

AWombWithoutAFoof · 07/09/2014 18:38

Gabriel - love it
Seth - love it, but growing in popularity
Franklin - OK, like Frank
Dawson - not for me, very American surnamey
Wyatt - not for me, very cowboy-y
Henry - don't like traditional names like this, sorry
Malachy - love it
Seamus/ Shay - sorry, don't like, particularly Shay
Auden - love it
Josiah - love it
Jonah - prefer Judah

PenguinsIsSleepDeprived · 07/09/2014 18:35

In fairness to the OP, she didn't say Shay was a nickname for Seamus did she? She just wrote Seamus/Shay. Which some people do with different names on their list which they think of as having similar sounds.

florascotia · 07/09/2014 16:08

Am really sorry, but Shay isn't the usual short form of Seamus. It's a completely separate name.
You can use it if you like, of course .Am honestly not being critical, just sharing information.

The usual shortening for Seamus = James is 'Shemmie' = Jimmie.

Chay, which can sound very similar to Shay, is a nickname for Charles.

WomanScorned · 07/09/2014 13:34

Wyatt.
But, then, I'm another who considered Elvis!

Clemelan · 07/09/2014 12:26

Love Josiah and Jonah!

zazie7 · 07/09/2014 10:00

Gabriel- Nice
Seth- OK
Franklin- No
Dawson- No.
Wyatt- i hate this. Not a fan of surnames as firstnames anyway but I find the sound really unappealing.
Henry- Nice. Yes, it's fairly popular at the moment but it's a classic.
Malachy- Nice
Seamus/ Shay- Love this. I like Seamus with Shay as a nn.
Auden- don't like and I find it pretentious
Josiah- Nice
Jonah- I love this. I also love the variant Jonas/

Velvetbee · 07/09/2014 00:01

Gabriel is the best boys name ever. Fact.
Sorry DS2 and 3.

1lov3comp5 · 06/09/2014 23:50

We had Seth on our list for ds - also had Saul, Eli and Warwick if that's any use!
DH went off Seth 'in case he has a lisp' Hmm which has to be the worst reason for vetoing a name but ended up not using it anyway...(used one of the others though)

FlipItDigger · 06/09/2014 23:41

I only like Gabriel from your lists.

Toecheese · 06/09/2014 23:38

Adore frankie and seth

boobyboobyboobyboob · 06/09/2014 23:30

Love Seamus and Seoras (Gaelic for George). Malachy and Henry are fine too. In fairness though my top choice for my son was Elvis! Archie is now 3!!!

NadiaWadia · 06/09/2014 23:27

Gabriel and Seth are lovely. Seamus is quite nice if you have Irish connections.

Dawson is not really a name is it?

MabelSideswipe · 06/09/2014 22:58

I have 2 sons and both their names are in your list!
