Amelia or Clara?

I've loved the name Amelia FOREVER, but now that I'm finally expecting a baby girl the popularity aspect bothers me. I also love Clara, but don't want to feel that I'm going for my second favourite name (especially as I don't actually know ANY Amelia's in RL!)

Which do you prefer and why?

Clara wins hands down, sassy, with plenty of Oomph factor but still very charming. Pretty for a little girl but also interesting for a grown up.

Clara is much nicer.

Clara!

Lovely!

IMO Clara is popular too.

Out of the 2 I like Amelia.

Prefer Clara - much sweeter and less popular.

I really like Emilia not so keen on Amelia but do prefer it to Clara which is a little bit "in" at the moment. Amelia is super popular but has been around for a while.

I think it's a really tough one! I loved loved loved the names sophie and chloe all my life and then when I started having babies they were both top 10.

DD is Sophia which DH preferred and it got me over the popularity issue (although obviously very similar). not sure if I would have gone with sophie but way prefer Sophia now anyway.

now pregnant again and I can't find a girl's name I love so am thinking about chloe again. it's fallen out of the top 10 (in Ireland) but it's not exactly original and ideally i'd prefer something a little different to the normal run of the mill names.

so i'm no help, but will be watching this thread with great interest!

I do think that there are so so many names these days that even top 10 names aren't given to that many babies when you look into it.

I like both but Amelia is somewhat overused. You could change the spelling Emelia Emilia
