My favourite is Katarina.

Cara is too close to Carissa.

Agree with earlier post that English speakers will manage to pronounce Xenia more easily than Ksenia.

Don't like Candice, Chyler or Kamini.

Actually, seeing the other comment I apologise for using the 'stripper' term too. I think someone else has put it better that it is a bit too American sounding for my liking.

Sorry for any offense caused.

Choccyhobnob · 02/09/2014 11:50

Alexia - ok, prefer Alexa
Alice - nice, unoffensive just not my cup of tea
Candice - reminds me of a stripper name, sorry!
Cara - love it
Chyler - looks 'made up' (yes yes I know ALL names are made up...)
Elizabeth - same as Alice
Evangeline - too religious for me
Kamai - Same as Chyler
Katarina - quite like it, also like Katrina
Ksenia - too made up
Lillian - too old lady for me
Meredith - not for me, a bit sappy (same as Alice)

I've written 'not for me' a lot - obviously this baby isn't mine so who cares what I think lol

Bunbaker · 02/09/2014 10:13

Loxley Explanation here

WittyUsername102 · 02/09/2014 10:04

Thank you all - although not to you Surfsup1. We all have different name tastes but there's no need to say 'yuck' or 'stripper' when you have a variety of phrases such as 'don't like it', 'not for me', 'no', etc to chose from, which do not insult anyone - but I guess that's what you get when you ask strangers for opinions.

It seems Meredith, Katarina and Evangeline are the front runners on here. Meredith is also my favorite - but it is not DH's sadly.

How about Zena for Ksenia?
Chyler sounds too much like Kyle/Kylie, so it's a no from me.

I like the rest though.

diddl · 02/09/2014 09:32

Cara
katarina.

Both lovely.

LoxleyBarrett · 02/09/2014 06:19

Sorry Cece found it. It's fairly uncommon though.

LoxleyBarrett · 02/09/2014 06:17

Cece - are you sure Alexia is a medical condition? Ar you confusing with ataxia?

Surfsup1 · 02/09/2014 01:37

Alexia - Lovely, feminine but with gravitas
Alice - Lovely name
Candice - stripper
Cara - nice enough
Chyler - yuck
Elizabeth - classic and a plethora of nns
Evangeline - wears a cape and a mask
Kamai - looks like a phonetic representation of how they say Kimmy on Kath and Kim

Katarina - Pretty and strong
Ksenia - how do you pronounce that?
Lillian - is a librarian
Meredith - is Lillian's bookish sister.

Sophronia · 02/09/2014 01:29

Sorry, that should say Carissa!

Sophronia · 02/09/2014 01:29

I like Alice, Elizabeth, Evangeline, Katarina and Ksenia.

I think Meredith, Lillian and Evangeline go best with the sibling names. Cara is too close to Clarissa.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/09/2014 21:38

I think Xenia would be easier for people to get their head around, because of Xavier being fairly well known the X beginning isn't massively confusing. Whereas Ks start is very different to English language patterns of spelling.

I think the names I mentioned liking upthread work well with your existing children's names. A good friend of mine is called Carissa, makes me smile just seeing the name, she's fab.

MollyBdenum · 01/09/2014 20:26

In that case, I think Lillian and Evangeline go best with the other sibling names.

WittyUsername102 · 01/09/2014 19:12

To add, we're looking for a sister for Carissa, Daisy and Simon.

Hi all, thank you for your opinions.

I didn't realize Alexia was a medical condition - I thought it was just a shortening of Alexandria, thank you, I guess that's crossed off now.

Ksenia is not made up - it is Russian and the name of my best friend. Another spelling is Xenia, but it is pronounced slightly differently and I thought Ksenia would be easier to look at and say than Xenia - is it not? Ksenia is pronounced ku-sen-ya while Xenia has 4 different pronunciations, one of which is sen-ya.

Kamai was a typo, it is meant to be Kamini, but I guess we have a nickname now if we pick that. (Ka-me-knee).

Chyler is ky-ler.

Michonne · 01/09/2014 18:09

I like Evangeline and Meredith, not keen on any of the others.

TempsPerdu · 01/09/2014 17:57

I like Meredith, Alice, Elizabeth and Katerina. Lillian is OK but would inevitably become Lily, which I'm not a fan of. Not a fan of Candice, Kamai or Chyler (have no idea how this is pronounced - is it similar to Schuyler/Skylar?)

AberdeenAngusina · 01/09/2014 17:53

How do you pronounce Ksenia? Kiss-enia? Kih-sen-ia?

I like Meredith, Alice, Katarina, Elizabeth and Lillian from your list. I don't like Chyler at all.

cece · 01/09/2014 17:40

Alexia - pretty but also a medical condition
Alice - lovely, also like Alicia
Candice- bit too American sounding for my tastes
Cara - OK
Chyler- no idea how to say it so not for me
Elizabeth - lovely classic
Evangeline - makes me think of a cartoon, not sure why
Kamai - ? no idea how to say this either
Katarina - OK
Ksenia - this looks made up to me
Lillian - love this one
Meredith - pretty

From your list I would use Alice, Elisabeth or Lillian

MollyBdenum · 01/09/2014 17:35

Alice and Elizabeth - lovely but a bit too classic for my tastes.

Evangeline, Lillian and Meredith - quite nice.

I don't like the rest.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 01/09/2014 17:34

I do like Katarina and Cara and then the classic strong names, Alice and Elizabeth.
Which sounds best with the intended surname?
Then in fifth and sixth places, Meredith and Evangeline.

mummybare · 01/09/2014 17:34

Love Elizabeth biased as well as Meredith and Lillian. Alice and Cara are also nice.

WhispersOfWickedness · 01/09/2014 17:29

I like Cara, Evangeline and Meredith from your list Smile
