So depressed by the lack of interesting boys names!

Due in 9 weeks, and every boys name I hear bores me to tears!

Not interested in cutesy little boy names (Alfie/Archie/Charlie) and absolutely no 'Thomas the Tank Engine' names (Edward, Henry, James, etc).

Impress me with something a wee bit different!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

OP, Your short list has many great names! I'd have a hard time trying to pick a short list from it. Theodore, Nicholas, Zachary, Finlay, Spencer, Elliot, Desmond, Samuel, Luke and Emmett are all on my list of favourites.

Maybe keep throwing out names of other Theodores to lose the chipmunk association with your DH (Theodore Roosevelt, Theo Walcott).

I see someone has already mentioned Mowgli but the latest development is Montezuma (nn Monty....) ... fans of The Archers much prefer Maurice, definitely due that comeback.

I saw you had Vivian on your girl's list, that's a male name too.

Only use Erik if the middle name is going to be 'Bloodaxe'.

Acer and Fox are on our list. My little boy's middle name is Falcon. I wish I'd had the guts to make it his first name.

Raeray · 05/09/2014 21:12

Inspiration from your girls list - how about Jesse?

handcream · 05/09/2014 21:03

That East London list reminded me why I do t live there anymore!

Keir Hardy was the first Labour M.P. - I think you would have to be a bit of a leftie to get away with it.

My rules were no names that were primarily a)surnames or b) dogs. So no Buster, Mungo, Fletcher or Cooper.

I know a lovely Beau and an Otto

Some brilliant suggestions!! Am 38 so many of these already have associations both adults and children.....It's sooo hard!!!

Is Duncan cool these days? What about Sandy (short for Alexander)?

We'll probably end up naming him something really simple, after all this wonderful effort!!!

Just adding

Jupiter (sounds a bit like Juniper?)
Cosmo
Obadiah (Obi - so cute)
Lorcan
Amos

as I don't think they've been mentioned yet.

Could also have Jed for Josiah like President Bartlet :)

RaspberryBeret34 · 03/09/2014 12:49

My son is Holden Cooper. We struggled to find an unusual boys name too, think a girl would have been easier!

I'm currently pregnant with baby 2 and don't yet know what it is!

minniemaus · 02/09/2014 22:07

Some great names on this thread!

Love Austin, Quentin, Arthur and Magnus. Or how about Fabian?

Nessalina · 02/09/2014 20:48
