Logan Axel!
DH and I both love it and two of the very few names we agreed on!
Slightly nervous as people have already said they bet we pick really traditional, old names but we wanted something different for our DS.

Would love to know honest first impressions of the name though!

I think my DH would swap it as he loves Axel but if love Logan too much to be a Middle name!
We have had one boys name (this name) and one girls name decided since we got married over a year ago after a random conversation. I thought we might change our mind a bit but I had a feeling from the beginning he was a little boy so I kind of already feel like I've named him! No one will know the name til he's born so it will be a surprise Smile

Axel is Tres cool. Swap it around!

Ludways · 26/08/2014 12:13

Logan isn't too out there that people would flinch, lol, but it's not too common either.

I don't really like Axel, it makes me think of Rose or wheels, but again it's not wildly weird.

They're good choices if you love them so much. Don't say them too many times before January as they may get boring to you, as did my first choices for dd, which resulted in a panic when she was born, lol

Showy · 26/08/2014 12:08

Not my cup of tea but absolutely fine. Really not out there either. Logan is in fairly common use. DD has 2 in her village primary and I teach one in a titchy village school.

florascotia · 26/08/2014 11:59

IF popularity matters, Logan was no 28 in the top 100 boys names for England and Wales in 2013, with 2,621 babies having the name

Axel was no 638, with about 50 babies.

Thanks for all your opinions! Smile

Feel confident that family and friends will like it, couldn't decide if it was too 'out there'!

Honest first impression was not good for me. Sorry Blush

I don't really like either name, but strongly dislike Axel. IMO Logan would be better with a more traditional middle name, e.g. Logan Alexander. But it's your baby and if you are both happy with it, then that's the main thing.

birdofthenorth · 26/08/2014 09:10

I really like Logan, have done since watching the TV movie of this book:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Any_Human_Heart

It is getting quite popular now so not as unusual a choice as you might think (though Axel does a great job of making it more so!). Congrats on your decision.

bubalou · 26/08/2014 07:55

Love them both.

Logan from wolverine and Gilmore girls Smile

Axel from the TV show 'the middle'.

All very positive things.

Lovely name. Grin

ralinax294 · 26/08/2014 00:04

Gorgeous name, congratulations. :)

Lucked · 25/08/2014 23:51

I know a few Logan's and it's a great name.

Onesleeptillwembley · 25/08/2014 23:50

Not to my taste at all, but not a wtf name.

Mintyy · 25/08/2014 23:11

Ahh. My dd was due 7th Jan (born on the 11th).

bouquetofpencils · 25/08/2014 22:12

We considered it as it's a surname that's in the family tree. It's got a pleasing sound. But we had a DD.

Babyleopard23 · 25/08/2014 21:43

I actually first noticed it in a film and loved it since so that was my input and DH thought of Axel because he thinks it's a very strong, manly name! I wasn't sure at first but with our surname it goes really well and it's grown on me.

Makes me think of Gilmore girls. It's fab, congrats! Grin

burgatroyd · 25/08/2014 21:39

I like the name Logan as it makes me think of a character from a N Sparks novel

Babyleopard23 · 25/08/2014 21:36

Sorry! No he's not born yet Smile
He's due 7th Jan!

How wonderful that you love it and both agree! Many congratulations. Can't really tell from the way you have worded it whether ds has been born yet?
