I'm clearly in the minority here (and I do admit it has a pleasant sound), but I'm not a fan. I get a brash, glamour model-type vibe from it too, for some reason.

I also once encountered a brayingly posh family on a flight whose baby daughter was called Saskia. The mother clearly hadn't a clue what to do with the baby, and kept protesting loudly about how noisy it was, then handing it over to the nanny to deal with crying/feeding/nappy changes. Obviously none of this little Saskia's fault, but it did put me off the name a bit!

Love the name Saskia. I suppose the only problem with the alliterative surname is that it will give your baby the initials SS. So probably best to make sure she has a middle name too.

Love Saskia!

BreeVDKamp · 27/08/2014 12:53

Knew one nn Sassy. She was quiiiite sassy in a bad way. Nevertheless I still like the name!

manicinsomniac · 27/08/2014 12:37

I think I like it. I knew a very unpleasant one at school and I sometimes find it hard to separate more unusual names from individual associations so that spoils it slightly for me. But I also knew a beautiful, elegant and lovely one at university.

But anyway, my associations mean nothing to you! It's a pretty name.

Sorry, I'm not so keen. Think it's a bit glamour model/ big brother contestant of a name.

KoalaDownUnder · 25/08/2014 06:19

I LOVE it!

I met a little Saskia the other day; her sister was called Tatiana. Gorgeous!

curiousgeorgie · 25/08/2014 00:19

Love this name, especially alliterated!

itsnothingoriginal · 24/08/2014 22:54

I love it! Was a contender for DD but didn't work with our surname, sadly.

Floggingmolly · 24/08/2014 21:16

It's gorgeous.

ladybirdandsnails · 24/08/2014 21:14

Love it.

Blueberrybaby · 24/08/2014 21:10

I love Saskia. DH thought it was ridiculous though and said it couldn't possibly be an actual name. He was convinced I had made it up. Even when I told him it was Danish he still said it was silly. I'll never get to use it. :-(

vinoandbrie · 24/08/2014 21:09

Love it! A very cool girl at school was a Saskia. She moved to California with her family, which just added to the glamour!
