My favourite overheard names were in central Cambridge and they were certainly siblings, if not twins:

'Aragorn, Eowyn,hurry up before McDonald's gets too busy!'

As I was headed there myself, I can confirm that they did indeed, hurry up!

Do names divide into "London" and "the rest of the UK"? There do seem to be differences. Also, is it just a time-lag thing where "London" names reach the rest of the country a couple of years later and end up at the top of the charts then?

I didn't realised people listened to names in the park. I wonder if people ever post about the names I call my children in the park, as they're not their real names Blush

I can just imagine. " am I being unreasonable to think this lady shouldn't have called her daughter Jeremiah?"

I hope this doesn't become a "weird names" thread. That wasn't my intention. Just thought it'd be interesting to see what's out there in real-life!

It's easy on MN to think half the children are called Lily and Alfie and the other half Persephone and Iago when the reality might be somewhere in between...

This was the trendy East London park with a lido, a paddling pool and two playgrounds, and a nearby cupcake bakery. But we also used to patronise the much larger one with the Pavilion cafe, a lake with a fountain and death-defying slides.

Actually I have no idea why I am being so coy as we have moved now anyway - London Fields and Victoria Park. I miss them so.

I was in trendy East London too - wonder if it was the same park? I'm always guaranteed some good name-spotting there.
