I've narrowed it down to 2 names but which do you prefer?

Claudia. I don't see the appeal of Florence, to me it is a city so just an older version of today's placename trend.

Yes I agree squoosh. Why do people fixate on the meaning of 'Claudia'? 'Amelia' apparently means 'limbless' or something, and is actually a medical term, but nobody takes any notice and it is right up at the top of the name charts!

The "crippled/lame" connection to Claudia comes from the Emperor Claudius (who had a limp) and was incorporated into the Latin language because of this. The name Claudia/Claudius therefore actually predates this "meaning".

The Claudia of Roman mythology was very brave and saved her father's life by standing between him and an angry mob who tried to kill him.

I'm puzzled as to why people fixate on the meaning of Claudia.

Florence is everywhere and agree that it is very now.
Claudia is wonderful! !!

Claudia is so much nicer. The Camerons choosing Florence has put me off forever, although maybe you quite fancy being like the Camerons Smile

Claudia! I have one and it's a fab name. Unlikely to get popular because some people are put off by the meaning which is why I think it lingers outside the top 200. Go for it.

Claudia sounds elegant and pretty. Don't really get all the current love for Florence. Don't really like 'ence/ense/ance' as a name ending anyway. Would prefer Flora to Florence, but Claudia overall.

The meaning of Claudia as well as the English pronunciation as Claw-dia would put me off. I prefer Florence.
