Why is alliteration such a no go?

Just wondering! I see a lot of posts on here saying how awful it is.. Just wanted your thoughts on the subject as I have my heart set on an alliteration name for dd.
Beth (after my granny) Blossom -yes that's my actual surname!
Thoughts?? X

I love alliteration and was really sad when I couldn't find a nice name that had the correct letter. I agree Beth blossom just doesn't sound right though. Bethany is much better. Go for it Grin

There are loads of successful people with alliterative names.

I think they have impact.

Go for it.

Thanks girls, will work on oh for Bethany (granny's full name) he just thought it was a bit cutesy. However I think with our surname it's hard as it makes most first names sound frilly! X

I like alliteration. I also prefer Elizabeth Blossom but that's just because I prefer longer/more full names as opposed to what I would consider a nn. on a birth cert. it's got nothing to do with the alliteration!

I don't think Beth Blossom flows quite right. Bethany Blossom does though. As does Elizabeth.

I love alliteration. I think Beth Blossom is a beautiful name. Maybe that makes me weird but I say you should just go for what works for you.

I don't think alliteration is a problem at all. I hate it when people make these "rules" up about how to name your baby. That said, I don't like Beth on its own at all, but that's just my personal taste. Would you consider Elizabeth or Bethany?

Alliterative names work as long as the first and second name don't have the same sound in the first syllable.

So Lauren Lewis, Matthew Marshall, Amy Adams etc sound great

I really like alliterative names. People criticise them as cartoon-like, but I know many people with them and it works.

I'd call her Elizabeth, then she has an alternative to Beth if her peers are prats.
