Which would you choose?

In Scotland, David often becomes 'Davie'/'Davy' even for grown men. I rather like it.
And Scotland had a very famous and admired King David, so the vibe up here may be rather different....

Topsyloulou · 16/08/2014 17:20

Hugo for me too. David will become Dave as soon as he is an adult if not before. It's a lovely name & we're having it as a middle name but Dave is inevitable.

What about Hugh if you're not convinced by Hugo?

Desertrunner · 16/08/2014 17:17

Hugo. Fabulous.
Although I may be biased!

bakinggood · 16/08/2014 17:07

I like both David and Henry but not keen on Hugo at all.

aubreye · 16/08/2014 17:00

Am I the only one who loves Hugo the most?

ODearMe · 16/08/2014 15:55

Henry

sandberry · 16/08/2014 15:49

Hugo is technically the least popular on the current name stats but climbing fast.
I would go for David though because it has the best meaning.

Hoolit · 16/08/2014 15:36

I like David but not Dave, how about William or Rory?

CallMeACab · 16/08/2014 15:29

Not Hugo. It sounds like an exhalation of breath. Also makes me want to say "Hugo, no Hugo, no, please Hugo first." Maybe I'm odd.

BigfootFiles · 10/08/2014 17:09

I'd go for Daniel instead of David. David Cameron is just one of a long line of Daves I can't stand.

Monica101 · 10/08/2014 17:03

I'd pick Henry, though it is the most popular.

David, no as I could not stand Dave.

Hugo a bit too posh, I'd want a more understated posh name if I was going posh!

Pregnantberry · 10/08/2014 17:02

My DP is called David but he started going by Dave when he went to university. His mum stubbornly refuses to call him Dave and is the only one who calls him David now. I think I would be doing the same in her shoes - I like the name David but have to admit, (sorry DP) that I would not want a baby called "Dave". I have it as DS's middle name though!

I actually prefer Hugo to Henry. It's nice and distinctive and I don't really buy into the whole 'old fashioned' or 'royal' craze which I see Henry as being a part of.

grassroots · 10/08/2014 17:01

Hugo.

TravellingToad · 10/08/2014 17:00

I'd pick Henry

What about

James
William
george

Squirm · 10/08/2014 16:58

David is as bad as Kevin. Dave/Kev. Bleugh.

The Alexander in my son's class has brothers Theodore and Rufus.

Squirm · 10/08/2014 16:56

David is dreadful.

Not overly keen on Henry or Hugo. I'd go for Hugo.

freyaW2014 · 10/08/2014 16:56

What about thomas? Only other name I like after alexander

Lucysaysno · 10/08/2014 16:51

Not keen on Theo. I also like Charles/Charlie but it is very popular and I know several.

Sophronia · 10/08/2014 16:49

David. It's classic and very underused at the moment compared to the others.

TeaAndALemonTart · 10/08/2014 16:43

Not Dave. I know a Davey which is better.

Henry is way too popular but Hugo is okay.

What about Theo?

Lunastarfish · 10/08/2014 16:40

Baby Dave would be awesome! A classic underused name. That said, I think Henry goes better with Alexander.

Lucysaysno · 10/08/2014 16:39

Does anyone have an other suggestions? It will be a little brother for Alexander fwiw

I prob wouldn't do as first name to be honest. But don't like Henry or Hugo..mind you I don't like any boys names and had a real struggle myself

monkeyfacegrace · 10/08/2014 16:24

My bloody husband is called Dave, and so is his dad.

Just no. Middle name fine, but not a first name Grin

ChanelNo19LoveIt · 10/08/2014 16:23

David. I know lots of hugos and lots of henrys.
