Love it, it is my littlest brother's name.

Just to wade into the pronunciation row, we all say it wrongly because we were born and raised in scotland so it would feel artificial to insist on the correct pronunciation. When we are in wales we pronounce it correctly though and all our welsh relatives have always said "dull-an" (Upper Swansea valleys).

Many people choose Dylan for the Bob connection though, and therefore pronounce it Dillon. And yes I know he was homaging Mr Thomas.

It was my choice for DS1 20 years ago but DH vetoed it as being too fangirl.

Yes, Dullan is the correct pronounciation here in the Vale of Glamorgan. Ds2 has 2 in his class. My dc go to Welsh school though which probably makes a difference.

All the Welsh speakers I know say Dullan. English speakers say Dillan but spell it Dylan and get annoyed when Welsh people say Dullan. I think in Wales if you want in pronounced 'English' you should spell it that way.

The majority of Welsh people in the South say it the "wrong way".

But we don't. Even people in Laugharne say Dull-an. My best mate used to work in the boat house.

I'm usually a stickler for it but in the case of Dylan I much prefer the incorrect way.

I'm from South West Wales and I've always pronounced it Dull-an as does everyone I know. And when we studied Literature everyone pronounced his name as Dull-an.

I don't think it was the South Welsh, more the US influence in his life.

It's a great name! None in either of the ds's classes, it's not that popular round here. Agree it's awful as a girls name, why would you when there are so many nice girls names?!

love love love it (am biased)/- such a great name and despite the popularity surge mine is still the only one in his school (not in Wales :))
