DS is Brandon but people often call him Brendan which drives me mad.

I have a short classic name and people still get it wrong.

My dd is merryn so yes unusual but not out there odd... People think it's Mary or Miriam...

Oh and ds4 is Rudi, people often think it's ruby... He is 6 and most definitely looks like a boy! It was more understandable when he was a baby/toddler though tbh he has always looked like a boy.

Duck, I would always check pronunciation for a Thea, in case it was pronounced Taya in a German sort of way, which it sometimes is.

I am often corrected by people on how to pronounce DS's name. How many kings of France were called Lewis ffs? I had never heard Louis pronounced Lewis before I had him, but now it seems everyone's doing it. Currently pregnant with DC2 who if a girl will probably be Emmeline. I'll brace myself for more name confusion...

No, because we chose a classic name that can't be shortened or played with and is easy to spell as there is only one way of spelling it.

DS1 is Isaac Caspar. Isaac is fine, but he gets called Jasper a lot.
DD1 is Delilah Verity. She's fine but has had comments about her name being very unusual.
DS2 is Ephra Finn. Yes Ephra not Ezra.
DD2 is Rosie Harper. A lot more common and doesn't get mistaken.

I also have a Thea. People act like its a really 'out there' name and were a bit when we announced it.

My DD is also called Thea (good taste emmeline ) and people often ask my DS 'what's your sisters name?' as she's only a baby. He can't prounounce his th's yet so says fee-a which sends most people into a tizzy of confusion! Even when I say Thea afterwards they still seem confused

This gets pronounced Ro - HAN emphasis on HAN with an audible aitch.

Also Rowan with an audible W (there is NO w in his name!)

He has been called Roland, Owen and Rory.

It's pronounced Roan with a silent h.

people lengthen my son's name - i.e Billy instead of Bill. He hates it, even at under four he still knows they are getting it wrong and will tell them.

DD gets called Elena / Eleanor when her name is Elina(to rhyme with Tina) especially at places like the doctors so I don't realise they are calling her as it doesn't register as her name.

DS gets called Caitlin, his name is *Caelin.

Oh and other DS gets called Ashton and he is *Aston.

Middle name so not that bad but it's Teodor. My mother tells everyone it's pronounced Theodore but we couldn't spell it right! Despite us repeating that it's spelt right in dhs country and is pronounced 'teo -door' and is dhs father and grandfathers name.

She also didn't hide her disappointment at my failure to use her name choices. When I had my DD she did announce a different name but said she made a mistake.

youngest was is very pretty and was often confused for a girl who of course was called Ciara......he hates that. Interestingly despite him having an unusual name we don't get many wrong pronunciations.

We have a Lucia (Loo SEE ah) who my aunt calls loo CHEE ah. It's a valid and perfectly nice pronunciation of the name, but the pronunciation that we chose is loo SEE ah. We expected to correct people who first saw the name written and used whatever prn they first though of, but not a family member who has been told a hundred times.

Dd2 gets called Jessica when her name is Francesca.

The mum of one of the boys in DD's nursery corrected him in saying her name the other day. She told him DD's name is Nina. It's not, and he was right, DD's name is Lena (lee-na, not len -a). I felt bad telling the other mum though, because DD can't pronounce her own name properly and always introduces herself as nina!

My daughter is called Thea. When she was born we received many cards from friends of my in laws congratulating us on the birth of 'Theodora'. I was extremely unimpressed that mil had renamed her!

It often gets misheard as 'Fia' or sometimes 'Sophia'.

Ds2 is an Alexander, he is OK with pretty much every shortening, except Alex. Doctors, the dentist, the hairdresser, other parents, the nursery staff, all shorten it to Alex. He gets Alexandria/Alexandra quite a lot too.

I've also just named my baby Charlotte and the amount of people who have asked me her name and then said "oh Scarlett? That's lovely". I didn't think the name Charlotte would cause any issues!
