Frederick and Florence?

DS is Frederick (Freddie). Would have been Florence if he had been a girl. Am not pg, but I still love the name Florence. Would you immediately think of Tesco clothing if you heard of siblings Freddie and Florence (prob called Flossie when little)? And, if so, does it matter? Any suggestions of what else works well with Freddie? I also like Rosalie, but it's a bit close to Fred and Rose, which isn't great, and Josephine.

I have a friend whose children are called Florence and Fred. When I first met her she just told me their names, "like Tescos" and she laughed. That was the only time I have ever heard anyone pass comment since then.

I you like the name I really wouldn't let the Tescos connection stop you.

Teacups link didn't cross my mind but I don't like the sound of the two names together - but I don't like alliteration in sibling names. Frederick & Florence seem a bit if a mouthful

We've got siblings by those names at our school - and not once has it crossed my mind (until this thread) about the Tesco connection...

Never heard of the Bobbsey twins, but I quite like the look of the books from that link!

Thanks for the honest feedback. Although I love the name Florence I think the Tesco thing is enough to put me off. DH thinks no one would know as its F&F on all the branding but I don't want to feel conscious of it when introducing DS and potential DD. Wonder whether Kate and Will were worried about the Asda connection when they named Prince George...

We have a Frederick, and when pregnant with DC2, we agreed that although we both liked the name Florence, we couldn't use it, for fear of them sounding like they were sponsored by Tesco!

I know that the adult range is generally called F&F now, but doesn't some of their children's stuff still say Freddie and Flo on it?

Did you ever read The Bobbsey Twins books? There was a Freddie and Flossie (Florence) in them.

I like both of those names, and I didn't think of Tesco immediately but I did think of it.

If you call them Freddie and Flora, nobody would make the connection, and if they did make the connection, well, it's not that bad is it? Children are still being called Stella and Flora, and Clio and Zoe (like the cars!). It's not something really embarrassing.

Lovely names OP and the Tesco thing wouldn't bother me. Their branding is all F&F now anyway, they've kind of lost the Florence & Fred thing I think. The Fred and Rose conotation might bother me more.

Same here Prima. I read the title and immediately thought why would anyone name their dc after tesco clothes. Made me wonder if there's a famiky anywhere with two sons called Mark and Spencer!
