How to pronounce Saoirse?

I've been given a class list for my new class in September, and this name is on it. I know it's Irish, and I've been told 2 variants of pronunciation.
"Sir-shur" or "See-ur-shur"?

Or something else? Obviously I want to get it right!

I would say Seer-sha (native Irish speaker)

Its pronounced as Janine says.

Sorcha is a completely different name.

And it's most definitely not Sher-sha.

Saoirse and Sorcha are two different names. Seoirse is different again.

I would just ask her. Her pronunciation could be different from the one you pick.

I've always known it as "sir-sha" (with a soft "a" sound) at least that's how the commentators always called the racehorse of the same name Grin

Seer-sha or Sur-sha, depending on accent.

NOT Sher-sha (not how Saoirse Ronan pronounces her name either)

I would pronounce it Sare-sha or Seer-sha. There are variants depending on accent though, so have a stab at it and ask the child if it's right.

its pronounced shersha, like saoirse ronan the actress. you can you tube people saying her name if you like

I would pronounce it Sear-sha but that might just be how we pronounce it in in my part of NI.

Just be warned of the child who told their teacher 'no miss, it's not chev-aun, it's see-ob-han' ;-)
