How to pronounce Saoirse?

I've been given a class list for my new class in September, and this name is on it. I know it's Irish, and I've been told 2 variants of pronunciation.
"Sir-shur" or "See-ur-shur"?

Or something else? Obviously I want to get it right!

badtime the Saoirse I knew was from Leinster and she pronounced it Sor-sha. Maybe she was unusual but that's how she pronounced it. (Giving myself away a bit but I am from NI too btw - not English).

in Glasgow, the ones I met were always Sor-sha - like Niall is often pronounced nee-yall there, and I was shocked to find it's nye-all everywhere else :o

I've only ever heard 'sor-sha' as an English mis pronunciation of 'Sorcha'.

I'm from NI and say 'seer-sha'. I just asked my friend from Mayo and he says 'sare-sha'.

This is my friend's name and we pronounce it Ser (sir)-sha x

I say seer-sha but some Saoirses pronounce it sare-sha.

OP ask the parents how they pronounce it, or little Saoirse herself! There are some accent variations based on region. But really it should never be
Sor-sha
Surrika

haha stupid phone, sorry I didn't notice it had done that. what I actually wrote before android stuck its big fat robotic nose in was Sersha. what the hell even is shersha? aaahhh I hate google Dragon

When I looked at it I read it as 'sa row c" looking at it closer that might not be how I would say it but that was my first reaction to it.

I'd stop thinking about it and just ask. Who can tell these days :-) and in my experience the more you over think it- the more difficult it will become in September.

My Dd is playing it right now with her friend ser -sha!
Her mum says it more like sair-sha though and she is Irish

seer-sha. have never heard it pronounced any other way (including saoirse ronan)
