Scottish boys names?

My DH and I are expecting a little boy in December. DH is Scottish so we have agreed to go with a Scottish name. But we can't agree! I like traditional/royal names. He doesn't. The only one we've been able to come up with that's made it on the list is Toren. It's quite unusual so would be good to get some opinions... Or other suggestions...

What about looking at names of Scottish rivers.

Personally I wouldn't go for Tweed or Dee.

My late grandfather had the middle name Hutton, my daughter is adamant when/if she ever has a son he will be called Hutton :) My fathers name is in the list above, and now i really wish i had used it in one of my own sons names....that maturity for you :)

More unusual names I have come across are Corrie, Connal, seamus,Brodie, Blair, Innes

I like Toran. I also know a really great teenager, a friend of my DC, called Oran (after the Gaelic saint).

I was going to suggest Keir (I have a Ciar who was almost a Cairn)

I also have a Craig who was almost a Gregor - that was after going through quite a few changes from Alec and at one point Blaven.

We resorted to sticking pins in the map which is why we nearly had a Cairn.

What about Tiernan?

Weebarra I totally agree! William (which I love) is also too English apparently. Not sure William Wallace would be happy with that claim. Anything royal is by default too English in DH mind. I don't follow the logic either.

This will out me but DS1 is called Keir - agreed after 3 months of debate...
