Major baby name issues..

Basically, my partner and I just can't agree on any names, my favourite is Amelia (he hates it) and his favourite is Danielle - no way!! Though we FINALLY did agree on a name we both liked... Ella!! Though I have just found out that my friend is due a day before me and is naming her baby Ella. Of all the names!!! So this has majorly put me off! Back to square one.

Can anyone suggest any names that are like Ella? Or short pretty names for girls?

Have you tried each coming up with a list of twenty names you like and then comparing? You could agree to not put Amelia or Danielle on either list.

Annabel?

Starts with A like Amelia, and rhymes with Danielle (but has the very important advantage of being in a completely different league).

Excuse me if I'm being completely ignorant here but for the posters who suggested Eleni- it might be a name in another language so apologies if it is- but if you're suggesting it as a Welsh name it means "this year" and isn't a name. Again, sorry if it is an actual name!

These have probably all been suggested (I haven't read through the whole thread) but how about Elena, Eleni, Eleri, Eleanor, Elodie, Eloise, Eden, Erin, Alice, Beth, Anna, Anya, Clara, Cora, Cara, Freya, Bella, Hannah, Emma, Iona, Julia, Emilia, Emmeline, Lara, Laura, Leah, Laila, Maya, Nina, Sasha, Ada, Ida, Isla, Rose, Rosa, Tabitha, Willow, Una, Mara, Sarah, Rebecca?

Agree with several others - choose one of the beautiful names containing Ella, like:

Gabriella (love, and especially if Christmas baby)
Annabella (love)
Isabella (very nice but v popular)
Estella
Helena
Eleanor

Ella is pretty popular, so I'd go for a non-filler middle name if I were you!

Or Amelle, which is like a mix of Amelia and Ella!

Tbh the boys name we have chosen is very popular and I have a friend with a 6 month old who has the same name. BUT its the only name both DH & I agree on and for that reason we are going with it.

Just go with it as its likely you could have your baby first anyway x
